Can't believe its coming up....I just got the needle out for the 11th treatment and no nausea at all but they did do away with the oxil...Didn't get a Neulasta shot either...That'll save me $800 co pay....My feet are pretty numb, hoping that is going to be temporary but if not I'll live with it. The treatment without the oxil is so easy to do but it can't have the fighting power that just the 5fu and leucovorin does but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I am looking forward to the 16th, 17th and then the last day the needle comes out on the 18th and its OVER !!!!!!!!!!!!! Been a long year but looks as though Im going to make it with a great Prognosis. All clear margins, no nodes involved and Life Is Good.....Thanks to the Man upstairs that did this for me and the wonderful Drs and semi colons that helped me through thick and thin....I will never forget it.....God Bless you all........

    Great news Buzzard!
I'm so glad for you! It will be a HUGE relief to have that last one done! I'm gaining on you tho....can't wait til life with oxil is over. It got my hands and feet really good this time!

I'm so glad to hear it!
You will definitely sail through the 5FU and Leucovorin in comparison to the Oxi and you won't be on just the two long enough to get any of the other side effects! It's so good to see you are almost over that mountain! Enjoy!

Yeah Buzzard! You will finish right before I start (Mar 23) so you can keep tugging on that rope for me. 5FU and leucovorin...that's what I am getting. I am so blessed that I don't need Oxi - I was really scared of it.

    Keep on fighting! Vicki

    Tears of Joy...........
......I sincerely hope that everyone in here reaches the ultimate goal. It is my intention to pray every night for everyone in here to keep all of you healthy and strong and with us until a cure is reached. Be faithful in knowing that we suffer so that others can be healed from our misfortunes . We are a surviving bunch. We are a caring bunch. We are the type of people that can meet whatever they want to throw at us head on and beat whatever it is. We are so fearless but yet have the ability to be as gentle as lambs to each other. We will all persevere through this, because we have the ability to fight back and to win. My mom was worried about my outcome and I told her that I can handle anything, as long as its not my child. She looked at me and said "You are my child" and I followed with "Yes Maam, and you have done a good job at raising me and deserve a medal for it"...but I can handle whatever it throws at me because I believe that the Lord will take care of me. I told her that as hard as it may seem that I wasn't afraid of dying and I knew where I was going so she said I won't worry for you anymore if you are that calm and sure about things. He is my Lord, I will never suffer again.....God Bless each of you and be strong.....and thank you from the bottom of my heart....

    Oxiliplatin........
The oxil is what I guess is the chemo part of this regimen and the leucovorin is an enhancement for it. The 5fu is also a chemo and I am assuming that the leucovorin that I am getting along with the 5fu is to keep the 5fu in my system longer. The oxil is one of the chemo regimens that has the best rep of dealing with rectal cancers . Although it does come with narly side effects (for me anyway) severe nausea, cold sensitivity. I am however after 3 weeks off of it I had my first milkshake a few days ago...with no problem. I think that neuropathy is one of the worst side effects that you can have with it. My feet are pretty numb through 10 of 12 treatments so I am off of it for the last 2. It does do a number on a lot of people but I guess its worth it to fight the beast.
