    Eucerin
I used to have dry cracked feet & hands. (from the xeloda). I used Eucerin cream/ with the socks & gloves. Honestly, I doubt that it will go away until your done with chemo. You can keep it at bay (hopefully) by doing what you are doing. Just keep smearing it on!

Maybe someone else has something that will help.

    cracked feet
I don't have too much to offer other than saying that I've had cracked feet too. Not as bad as you both have, I get it worse with my hands. I use a cream on my feet when it happens and it usually goes away fast. It is something that will go away when chemo stops. Funny how just stopping the chemo if even for a short bit, the body rebounds quickly.

I'm on Xeloda now and having "issues" with my feet -- but doesn't sound as bad as you...I get big blisters and then peeling.....I try to use creams and then wear socks. Sorry you don't like to wear socks. Have you tried those very very soft fleece (?) ones? My mother mail them to me! I am also discovering that hot water is not so good for my feet (boo hoo -- I love long hot baths). Also walking (for exercise) -- altho I still sneak that in when I can. My doc wants me to wear only very supportive flat shoes like sneakers. Again boo hoo - I'm a high heels gal! But, I'm trying to comply/compromise on that (sensible shoes almost all the time). Good luck and lets keep exchanging tips....

I love it...yes I use those socks too Tara....really soft and sometimes they are just really short like little tennis socks. I too am finding hot baths not so good and it's a funny combo because with the oxy infusion at the beginning of the cycle I really like to be warm and suddenly the 5FU kicks in and says stop cooking me. We used to burn a wood stove and when that sucker would get cooking I had to get out of the room.
Anyone else getting really pale skin? sometimes my face looks ghostly and sort of red rings around the eyes. I'll try the eucerin cream....I have just been using Keri lotion

    any other tips???

    Vitamin E oil
I use vitamin E oil on mine. I did a round of 5FU and I got blisters on the bottom of my feet. So with all the dry cracked skin I have been cutting open a vit E pill and using that, then putting socks on. I think it is really helping.

I never thought of that, but I do take it internally for my skin, so no reason why it wouldn't help applying topically! Good suggestion!

    The Cream
Make sure you use the Eucerin cream and not the lotion. Besdies Eucerin, Mary Kay makes a Night Emollient cream (as a matter of fact, that is how Mary Kay got her start). It's pink and real thick. I liked that one, too. It does have a scent to it, though.

    face
I started out with really pale skin! I notice I have red splotches on my face now....aAh well, guess I'll stock up on 'concealer' if it really bothers me.....Also, I am very sun-sensitive. I walked 30 min in the sun early morning no sunscreen (hat, sunglasses, long-sleeved shirt) -- ended up with an itchy rash on the back of my hands!! Now I wear cotton gloves. I look odd (it's warm where I live) but who cares.

use super glue on heel cracks
I had problems with my heels cracking and bleeding long before I had chemo. My trick was to use super glue to close the cracks and allow them to heal. It somethimes works in other areas, but not as well. In those areas I've used neosporin and fabric bandages to protect the area and promote healing. The bandaid idea may not be so good as it could irritate the skin.

I've been using shea butter, with limited success. I am going to try either Eucerin or the Gold Bond Healing lotion, which others say works well.

    Good luck! Traci
