Yet another routine procedure and, not so much
Long story short turns out that the stupid stone is still there and now they have to do surgery to drag it out. Sigh. I am going to try a home remedy first and see how that works, try to get rid of it on my own but probably will have to do the surgery. It isn't major stuff but going under anesthetic can be icky, going to try and see if they can use that drug that makes you forget about procedures instead, it's far easier on you - no recoup time from the anesthesia. So just another simple appt. and into more torture, oh joy, does the fun ever end? lol. Just thought I would update you. Blessings, Blueroses.0 -

These doc's must be short on cash, like the rest of us these days. It seems they always find something to do to us (or for us, I can't remember which) and then we spend days waiting for the test, procedure, results, whatever... Maybe they could take a vacation all together without us- LOL! Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have an appointment scheduled on our calendars for, say, three months? I would be doing cart-wheels down the street. Think about how cool it would be if we could have empty little squares on the calendar when we look at it and be able to comment on how "boring" February was going to be. I would be in Heaven!
Anyway, I hope all goes well for you and they can blast that little sucker out of there without any ill-effects from anesthesia; you'll be in my prayers.

That's what I am going to do. I am going to send all my friends on here blank calendars for Xmas and they will be made of a special coating that prevents you from entering any doc's appts on it, only doc's appts. - 'doc repellant paper'. lol. That might work. The thoughts of 3 months without an appointment is indeed heavanly. We could also all pool our money (the bit we have left after medication and procedure costs that is, lol) and send them all off to a small island in the middle of the ocean for that period of time too so they can't bug us. I'm picturing the scene now. I guess they would soon start poking each other with needles and doing biopsies on each other out of sheer withdrawal from it all. Awww poor babies. lol. See how they like if for a few months. Ah to dream. Thanks for the kind words Holly, this too shall pass - hmmm unfortunate choice of words there. Stupid stupid kidney stone. Sigh. Well on the positive side it's nice to know that your doc is so dedicated to her field that she takes time out to call her patients herself on her vacation but did she HAVE TO TELL YOU she was in Mexico? lol. Hi Blue, I know how draining it is when you can't get a good night's sleep. Have you ever tried melatonin? My doc suggested I try it and it seems to be working. It takes a few weeks to really see the effects though.
I don't blame you for not wanting to be in a docs office----I liked your visuals too!

Hi Eil, Trying to find a natural way to pass this stupid kidney stone instead of having surgery to yank it out. It isn't rocket science surgery but I want to be knocked out for it as I am a big wuss now with all the interventions I have had over 20 years, you know what that's like I'm sure. There is apparently a really great homemade recipe comprised of 2 litres of coke (it can be caffeine free and diet) followed by 8 to 16 ounces of steamed pureed asparagus. Oh yum. lol. Then after that if you haven't exploded by then you drink some water and in 15-45 minutes apparently the stone should come flying out. I am checking with my pharmacist first though so that I won't be taking something that doesn't work with all my medications, the asparagus might be a problem with my blood thinner but we will see. Some people swear that if you start drinking lemonade with a bunch of fresh lemons squeezed into it for a few days before the coke/asparagus thingy that breaks down the spikes on the stone so better chance of passing it. I don't do, nor should anyone do, anything like this without the doctors knowledge first, and while no doc will condone it as a technique for getting rid of stones if none of the componants will hurt me why not and I will avoid surgery and anaesthesia. They just give me that 'forget what happened' drug so it isnt full anaesthetic with all the side effects, had it once before and you wake up like nothing happened. It's unreal. I wouldn't be so concerned but I am afraid this might be chronic and that would be tough to handle with everything else. For now I will think good thoughts this is a once in a lifetime kidney stone and try and leave it there. Hi Blue. I kinda thought a good bottle of Vodka would help everything flow but that might be quite a mess to clean up. I hope it passes on its own. I also hope you had a good nights sleep for a change. Today I finished with my dentist for a while and my uncle passed away. Things will be an emotional mess on this end for a while as we are a real close family. He is with God now and surrounded by love and no doubt with my aunt who he has missed so badly over the last 9 months. I am not sad but I will miss him the rest of my life. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your uncle, just one thing after another eh? I know the feeling. Glad to hear that you finished with the dentist for a bit though, at least that's one thing down for the time being. Ya the vodka idea would be nice but although it might take care of the stone I wouldn't know it because my heart would have stopped if I dared take an alcohol so - no fun there. lol. I'm going to try this weird coke/asparagus/lemom/water thingy, maybe start it tomorrow. Apparently it's worked for many people so who knows - worth a try. Last night I had so much pain in my hands and ankles and knees I actually took extra morphine for breakthrough pain as I couldn't sleep with all the pain and I knew I had to get up at 5:30 to try and get ready for a full physical at 8:30am. Well that did it, slept right through but can't do it everynight, too much morphine but in flare ups like last night it sure did the trick. Maybe that one good night's sleep will kickstart me into a better sleeping pattern - she says with some doubt, lol. Anywho, thanks for the message, take care. Blueroses.0 -

My husband passed a kidney stone and it was painful so maybe you would rather have surgery. But I don't know. I would say knock me out and get it over with but I use to be scared of anthesia because of what they used 30 years ago but they can control things better. But I don't know maybe a few seconds of pain would be better then going thru procedures. I hope all goes well no matter what and I will be anxious to hear what happened. Good luck no matter what.

Once the kidney stone is in the bladder there is o more pain so that's the good news since mine has taken up residency in my bladder, it was the journey down there that was the worst. For men it's apparently worse when they pass them as the tube is much narrower than a woman's but mine is going nowhere and apparentely if they don't go in after it it will grow in the bladder so don't want that of course. The 'forget about it' anaesthesia as I call it is conscious sedation but you really do feel like you pass out, wake up and its over with no ill effects so that is what I am getting when they pull my tooth at one hospital but the one where they want to take out the stone doesn't do it and an anaesthesiologist told me when I had a tooth pulled 2 years ago said he wouldn't put me right out cause of my heart and this hospital said they will put me right out for the stone so now I am really confused. I think on Tuesday I will call my cardiologist and run all of this by him first although he was the one who said to go ahead with general anaesthesia and then when I was outside the operating room the anaesthesiologist said no way he would do that because of my heart problem. Man the medical profession will drive you nuts with contradictions sometimes. I will keep you posted. Hugs, Blueroses.0 -

That is what I would do call the Dr. and make sure of answers but yes it can they can make things confusing sometimes. I see about the kidney stone. I wasn't sure being lucky enough not to have had that problem. Hope all goes easy for ya Bluerose. Let me know how it goes.
