Honor -- How did you do?
The good news, it isn't snowing! The roads and sidewalks are clear, although it is kind of chilly out there (about 0C). Still, I'm going to take the dog out for a walk, pain or no pain! I have not been able to walk the dog because of the ice and snow we've had.. I just can't seem to get confident of my feet and whether I'd fall or not. Just what I need... to fall and break a hip or an arm! But today, I'm going to make the effort of taking the dog out and get some fresh air myself. I've noticed that the neuropathy in my feet is even worse now, a year later than it was when I was on the chemo... and this does not make me happy!
So, I'll try taking the dog out and if I can reach that goal, then I'll be happier about having a "girlie" day at home and get dressed to the nines for celebrating the arrival of 2009 with friends tonight.
So, Honor, my RFA buddy, do check in! I really want to know how your experience with the RFA treatment went and how you are feeling.

I am so sorry you didn't have your procedure yesterday...so sorry you had all the tests and the prep and the organizing, all for nothing. BUT I did think to myself that things DO happen for a reason and maybe your body would not have done well yesterday, so maybe the new date is better for many unknown reasons. But I am so happy your back home and GOING out tonight - YOU GO GIRL, because IF you had had the RFA yesterday - you would not be getting all dolled up - you would be like me, in your best sweats and planning on sleeping by 9pm tonight!
My update is that is went so well! If there is to be any glitch or snafu, I am usually the one who gets it, but not this time. I went in around 9:30 - was hooked up to an IV - Met my radiologist ( who I knew form previous, as I had had a default port and he "fixed"it many times") SO we were old friends. While I was on the CAT scan table - with my hands tied up behind me, bondage style. he said to me( in an Aussie accent) "Due to your "enhancements (aka fake boobs) I have only one clear shot at this from the front, f that doesn't work I will flip you and come in from your back, and you will wake up with a chest tube and have to stay a few days"... well, it went great! It took 12 minutes to zap the lump, one little tiny nick on my right boob, and they didn't pop a lung or an implant. Yeah! I woke up - they had me lie on my tummy for an hour - then did an x-ray, all looked and then we waited another teo hours for another x-ray, and all still looked good so I was cleared to go home! I did take some Tylenol with codeine in recovery, which was a bad idea, so I had some nausea from that and threw up , so I asked for Vicaden to take home, which was better. Doc wants me on Tylenol every four for a few days, for fever. Last night I was very sore - so I did need the vicaden, but today soreness is better. The flu like symptoms are a real thing, I gave felt achy and yucky all day, but no biggie. Compared to all else I have been through it is a walk in the park.
I was excited to think that as of today I am "back in remission" officially no cancer in my body, which is a good way to start 2009.
SO things are quiet here, the sun is shining in San Diego, 74 degrees, and I am not in the hospital so that is all good.
Glad you are having a snow free day! What a drag about the neuropathy, I think living in a warm climate helped me with that.... I did go skiing a bit premature last year right after chemo, and found my feet froze and numbed in the boots - with a pain I cant describe, so I taking a long break from that activity. Wish there was something you could do for that.....maybe relocate?

Glad the procedure went well. happy new year(I can say that early as it is 8.00 am 1st of jan here in australia) You can relocate here but you will have to convert your snow skis to water skis. Temp yesterday was around 102 and they say it could be hotter today. All the best for 2009. Ron.0 -

Honor.... thank you soooooo much for checking in!! I am absolutely thrilled for you that you have had the procedure done and now you can greet the New Year in remission!! Yipppppeeee!!! And I'm soooo glad that there was no glitch in the works for you.
Now, did you get the conscious sedation, or were you knocked out with a general anesthetic? The anesthesiologist who I talked to (first time I've met him since I have not had anything done at this particular hospital) was one of the nicest guys... I sooooo want him to be my anesthesiologist the day of my procedure, although I'm sure all the others are just as nice. This hospital, despite the disorganization in the admin support side that I've witnessed, is well known for it's fabulous staff and some of the top doctors in the country... so I'm not holding anything against the individual staff
But he did say that he thought I might be given a general anesthetic because he sees the radiologist is going to go in a couple of times after these little beasties. I know of the two that he wants to get rid of, but I didn't think he was going to go after the under 5mm lesions... but if he does, and he gets them... then more power to me and to him! 
I think exactly like you!! The power out there in the universe decided that the timing was just not right to have it done yesterday. Again, when I look at my belief system, I may have been focusing on the wrong thing... I was soooo adamant that I was going to have the procedure done, then come home and get dressed for this party with friends tonight. It's not the party that's so important to me, it was welcoming the new year in with these particular friends... my friends' network is sooooo important to me. So, here I was focusing on being well enough to be with my friends tonight... again, remember what you focus on and send messages out to the universe, you receive tenfold. So, sure enough, I am going to the party tonight, feeling great... and after the party, am actually meeting up with a few other friends in the wee hours of the morning. So my night is definitely going to be all about feeling well and being with friends. Oops... that sort of put the RFA procedure in the background, didn't it? I'm thinking that my thoughts/energy paid off exactly how I was thinking... so after tonight, it's time to regroup my thoughts and start focusing a bit more on what I want done to make my lungs healthy
Hahaha... you all are probably going to think I'm crackers ... but thoughts/prayers are such powerful things... we really have to think more about what it is we are putting out there. Those of you who believe in prayer, have said on numerous occasions how "prayer chains" or individual "prayer" has worked time and time again. Well, what is prayer but thoughts sent out to, in your case your God... in my case, the Universe... the result is the same, we get answers to our thoughts/prayers.

PS: Hahaha... I forgot to mention about relocating to somewhere warmer . I already live on the southern coast of BC... the most mild area of all of Canada. We have rarely gotten snow before, so rare that I don't have the snow gear (boots, warm socks/pants, coat, etc). As for moving even further south, that would mean moving to the States or Mexico... and as a Canadian citizen, you all will only let me live in your country for 6 months out of the year . Cheryl, your first email was the most down that I have ever heard from you and thank
goodness the last email you were back up again. So glad you heard from your compatriot
in RFA; it shows how connected we get to each other. I can relate to the ice/snow thing
when I drove out to mail a letter at the local post office the other day not knowing there
was ice. It took an hour to get home from a post office two miles away and I was planning
on putting out my garbage can for pickup. When I put my first foot out it slipped off the
ice on my drive and I said, "no , no, the garbage can will wait". I bet we get more
artic air here in Cincinnati from Canada that turns my weather to ice and snow than you do....
HA. I am always hearing from the TV weatherman about the Canadian front that is coming our way. I am saving the stuff on RFA in cae I need it someday myself. Happy New Year!0 -

Happy Sunday morning to ya! I too am glad you were able to wrap your heard around the fact that you weren't able to have the RFA, as planned, but as I have to tell my 4 year old "It's OK to be disappointed, but it is not ok to flip out over it!". A good life lesson. Not that you flipped out, but what a drag to go through all that prep stuff just to be told it's not gonna happen. Anyway, so glad you had a great new year's eve, and were able to be the party doll you were meant to me.
Here's an update on the post RFA recovery......My doc had told me to stay on Tylonol to stay on top of a low grade fever, which has been there since Tuesday. I have felt (since Tuesday) that I have or am getting the flu, achy, tired and a slight fever. ANd today its no different. It's doable and I am ok, WAY better than any post-chemo feelings I ever felt, but I thought you should know. You might want to have it done on a Thursday, and take a long weekend, cuz you might need it. Now, the truth is I haven't really laid low, other than day one, I have been cruising around with husband and kids do various activities. I am grouchy - bummer for them. But laying around is not what I do. SO if I had done that a bit more, I might have felt better sooner, but who knows. So it is a little more recovery than I had heard... my nurse said to me when I asked why the flu symptoms, from a tiny zap...she said "well think of it as a tiny zap of lightning". Oh ok..got it
So that's the update from here.
I laughed that you don't even own snow gear - I feel better now. That is like me, I actually bought my first rain coat recently to watch my daughter play soccer... I didn't even know a rain coat can keep your REAL clothes dry! What a concept! San Diego girls don't really get that.
I did also enjoy our friend from down under with the 102 temps! Now I know how to dress for that!

Thank you so much, Honor!!! I, too, was going into this thinking that I would hop off the table, thank everyone involved, go spend the night at a friend's house who lives close to the hospital (I was told I would have to be with a responsible adult for 24 hours... which made my friend Nancie and I chuckle since neither one of us consider ourselves to be adults ), and then go on my merry way home the next day. The original plan of course, was to go home, get changed into my party frock and go off to celebrate New Year's with my dear friends (pictures of me at the party can be found at ( http://ourcheryl.blogspot.com/ ).
I will be getting two tumours zapped and, unless I misunderstood the anethesiologist, they might even be going after the tiny ones, although I'm pretty sure the radiologist said we are only going after the 2 of them at this point.
Soooo now that you have given me the heads up, I won't be surprised if this happens. Hahahaha... and in hindsight, that must have been exactly why the procedure was postponed to Jan 20th The Universe just shook it's head and was thinking, "Cheryl, Cheryl, Cheryl... what ARE we going to do with you?? You have no idea that if you have this procedure today, you are not going to be heading out to party til the wee hours of the morning tomorrow. It's just not going to happen!" And it didn't ... but the partying did
January 20th is a Tuesday, but that's ok... I don't have kids or anyone depending on me to look after them, and I'm not working, so every day is a long weekend for me Hmmm... if I have it done on the Tuesday, and lay low for Wed, Thur and Fri... I'll actually be ready for the official weekend

I happen to be a US Immigration Officer, and I know this is off the subject, but if you ever really considered moving to the states and ever have questions please just let me know. I can answer them and if I cant I know someone who can. Yes 6 months is the limit without having to do further paperwork. Off the subject but just wanted to let you know I am here if you have questions. If I were rich I would be living in Canada, just love it there. I want to live in ALberta though. I need to look into your immigration laws, because I have often thought about retiring to Alberta, but not sure what I would have to do. I guess it is probably pretty similiar to our laws and ways, just not sure.

Naaaa... normally speaking, Vancouver has the most boring non-weather! We are never too hot, and never too cold. Just a mild, climate where the rest of Canada makes fun of us because we just don't have any weather worth reporting about. We even have palm trees... although the last three weeks they have been covered in snow
If Lance comes by, he'll confirm that people from Toronto laugh at Vancouver when we complain about weather Mind you, we DO get a lot of rain... but that's to be expected when you built a city in the middle of a rainforest .
Naaaa... as much as I love visiting friends, etc. in the US... I'm a Vancouver gal who would get waaaaay too homesick if I were to actually move away to live. It's one thing to vacation... but totally another to up and move away from all one's friends. But then, I bet everyone says that about their home.

I live in Alberta.....Calgary has the foothills right in their back yard, but yeah the rest of the province is flat.... But we do get the sunshine unlike Vancouver....LOL

Hi Sue,
My last trip out of the US was to Calgary, just love it( I travel all over the world with my job, Ihave been to Russia 2 times, India 4 times, Fiji, Korea, Austria, Panama, Belize, Argentina, Brazil, Venezula, Colombia, Nicaragua, Peru and Canada). I remember it from when I was a small girl. Fell in love with it and it has always been my dream place to live. I have often thought about trying to get a job with your immigration there and get my resident card for Canada. I have 12 years to retire and I still might just do that. The people in Canada are so nice and layed back, I just love being there. I have not been to the east side of Canada, but I always wanted to go to Nova Scotia, have you ever been there? I used to live in ALaska when I was small, and we studied all about Canada. I used to know all the provinences, what each exported and imported, and all kinds of stuff. So I hope and pray this beast goes away and I can make my dream come true! THank you for your prayers

Hey Cheryl,
I travel to Vancouver usually 1 -2 times a year, as I have an aunt there.
I could not handle all the rain, I find it to depressing. If I had my choice I would be living in the Lake of the Woods Ontario. The mountains without the mountains.

You sure do get around...LOL I love traveling so I could handle that.
I have been from coast to coast in Canada, and mostly the western states and you would like Nova Scotia. We did travel to The Black Hills and Kansas last year, and I could really see myself moving to the Black Hills.
After my husband was dx'ed in 06 we decided to not put off a trip we have always wanted to take, a cruise to Alaska. If I had a chance to do that trip over again, I would be there in a heartbeat. I think I was expecting to see tundra up there, and was very surprised by the rainforest. It was absolutly beautiful, but not sure I would want to be there in the winter though.
Beth stay positive about ridding yourself of the beast once and for all!

Sue! Now why is it that if you are going to come to Vancouver 1-2 times/year you come when it's raining??? LOL!! I know, I know... we have a horrible reputation for having too much rain and on days like this week, I can certainly understand where that reputation comes from (we have changed from too much snow to too much rain). If truth be known, I prefer the rain to the snow... I can walk in the rain and you don't have to shovel it!! LOL!! But hey, if one lives in a rainforest, one has to expect moisture, otherwise ... well, we wouldn't be in a lush, green city 12 months/year. But SUMMER is paradise... sunny, warm (25-30C or in USspeak 77-86F) and in the city... no bugs!!
I'm a wuss when it comes to where would I like to live, if not in Vancouver... my second choice would be Vancouver Island, 3rd choice would be the Okanagan (interior of BC). I, too, love to travel, but love to visit places, not to live. I was going to Hawaii every January (this is the first year I haven't made it, which I'm blaming on the economy ) and I LOVE Hawaii... but wouldn't want to live there. I'd miss the seasons!
