Why is it a-holes who rob, steal, murder, beat people and otherwise do harm just keep on living while others like most of us just get terminal diseases amd can't seem to get any kind of a break. I realize life isn't fair but Jesus there should at least be some balance.!! Is there somewherewe can take a vote??

    Second that
I totally second that. GOD has it out for me especially this year. Im slowly losing faith in him even though its not his fault but it sure feels like it for me anyway!!
I wonder everyday whether to pray or not because he has not answered not one of my prayers in the last four years. I need to vote!!

    Third here
It is very depressing to have so many wonderful giving people lose to this disease. Yet as you said people who are evil, thoughtless individuals live to be that way for endless years.
So I want to vote, too. I lost my Dad when I was only 20 and even though i am 54 years old now I still feel the pain of that loss. Then it took my brother, too. Sister too but not to cancer. Still i have to say My Mother is the one who has suffered the most from all of it. She has lost two husbands, her son, and one of her daughters then she has to worry about out living me. How unfair is that? No parent should lose a child. I would have to be put in a rubber room if I lost one of mine.

I haven't lost my faith in God but I do feel as you all do that the good for nothing evil people out there seem to go through life unscathed but then I also feel in the end boy are they going to get paid back! My mother died when I was 12 from stomach cancer, two years later my father died from brain cancer. We were three kids left to take care of ourselves and I thought we would be immuned to any further heartache but my brother died from thyroid cancer when he was 39, now my husband has stage IV prostate cancer, enough already!! I never let on to him but when he is having a bad day and doesn't look so good I think Oh God what am I going to do without him.

    So much loss
    Sheila
I am so sorry to hear that you endured so much loss in your life. It just doesn't seem fair and at times we voice that opinion. Cancer is a terrible disease that is becoming a household word for mnay. It seems in more each day. Let's all pray that a cure is found soon. The one saving grace to all of it is many people would have lost their lives due to cancer years ago as our families were lost have improved methods of treatment and live long productive lives with it. Hopefully, that is the case with your husband.

We go to a better place
The world is a strange place yet I do believe there is a better place we go to and those of us who lose our lives to cancer will one day be happy and healthy in the better place. The rest will have to stay here on this earth longer and therefore suffer more. With so much crime, diseases, financial problems, emotional and physical pain, etc., it is not easy to live on the earth. Not for anybody. The bad ones look like they are having it easier than us but we are challenged more than them. I often think of the song, "Only The Good Die Young." The hardest thing is leaving behind those we love or being left by those we love. I'm not really even a religious person though I would say I am spiritual. But I definitely believe that we go onto a different realm when we die, or I should say when our bodies die. There we join those we love that left this earth earlier and if I can take this further, we even see our beloved pets.

"God only gives you what He knows you can handle!"
But, how does that explain my brother's suicide? Obviously, he had more than he was capable of handling and took what he believed at the time was his only option.

We bail out failed billionaires, but leave 47 million Americans without health insurance. We hold none of those who created the messes we are now in accountable, yet good people lose their homes, their jobs, and their very lives because of the selfishness, greed, and stupidity of the truly evil.

    Where is the justice?

    What's to come
Dreamdove you said it perfectly, not really religious but spiritual. There has to be something better after all of this. Human life/society should be so much better. Maybe that's what's next, but maybe not in a human realm. Who knows. First there is the here and now for all of us to deal with as best we can, with help and support of caring people like our friends, family, and people on this site who know what we all are going through.
Hope I am making some sense.
    Love to all.!

    Keep strong
Larry, thanks for much for saying that--you said it so much better than me. There has to be hope for something better than this. If one doesn't have hope, than I can see why there is so much negative stuff going on in this world. I've always tried to treat other people well, despite the way I have been treated sometimes. I see alot of people who have a better life than me but aren't nice people. Sure I wonder how they get away with that but I would never want to be like them. I wouldn't be able to STAND myself. I want to be able to live with myself. Even though I'm not perfect, I just can't stoop to mistreating others, taking advantage of the weaker, etc. I don't want to take my frustrations with life out on other people. I don't believe that we get cancer because we are being punished by God. And I'm not a born-again christian either. I don't even care what demonination a person is. We get cancer because of pollution, chemicals, electronic forces, inability to fight infections, the age of the body, genetics, all different kinds of factors--most of which are beyond our control. Healthwise there are some things we can control, but that's another discussion if someone wants to start that. So you see alot of unfairness but the earth is just a temporary place. The important thing is to keep on going, keep strong.

    blue,

As we are discovering with our economy, "free-market" has become an oxymoron, like "business-ethics", or as Janis Joplin once sang, "Freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose!"

    It is Gods Will
    It is Gods will.

Why are things the way they are and YIKES.
No one will find me at church every Sunday but I am a spiritual Christian, no doubt about it. After nearly dieing 3 times from side effects of cancer/treatments I had a couple of unexplained experiences while in the hospital - one being a 'healing' - I think I wrote about that somewhere on the boards (stupid chemo brain I can't remember for sure now, sigh). Anywho, after those experiences I was literally 'shown' that there is indeed a God, higher power, Allah, Buddha, whatever the name - same deal - higher power. No one truly knows WHY anything is the way it is except for the higher power who I truly believe does have a grand plan - all things happen for a reason and to compliment The Plan. What we pray for isn't always what we get, specifically, but I do believe that in many cases it is what we need or is needed to help fulfill the Plan for the greater good. When I received that 'healing' in the hospital - straight from the big Guy Himself - trust me it was Him - I experienced a type of KNOWING that I have never known before and when you experience that you simply believe without daily validation in terms as grand as my healing was for me. You believe on faith. Some people don't need a building to fall on them, like I did, to have that unwavering faith but it took a real healing for me, a burning bush so to speak, for me to realize that He is truly there for us and it's all a part of the plan. I would have much rather obtained this knowledge in an easier fashion, rather than through near death situations, cancer diagnoses and invasive medical procedures but like I said, I guess I am the kind who needed a building to fall on me. Um, twice actually. Sheesh.

Another thing I do know for sure is that there is great power in prayer - especially group prayer. Before I had my healing in the hospital I found out later that there were prayer chains praying for me at church. There have been many studies done on the power of prayer that are fascinating. No one knows the answer 'why' to anything really but I KNOW for sure that He exists because I was shown it, up close and personal.

Okay you aren't going to believe this one. I was just typing that last sentence above here about what I know for sure is that 'He' exists and there was a knock on my door and when I opened it (I was expecting the pharmacy to deliver my meds and knew it was them) I looked up at the delivery man (one I hadn't seen before) and he looked just like all the pictures you have ever seen of GOD. I'm not kidding you. Woah. He had white hair and a beard and those eyes that look right through you. Woah, that was just too strange. See what I mean about knowing. Too bad I can't drink anymore, yikes that was strange. I'm going to lie down now.
