So happy for you and good luck with the scans; it pays for us to be our own
advocates and stay informed of what we need. I am now at midpoint with the FOLFOX
treatments; four more to go and then scans in early December. Hopetful that all will
    be clear.

    PET/CT/MRI
yes, the PET is in between an MRI and a CT. It's longer than a CT, so your entire body can be encased in the scanner without having your head hanging out the end. I suppose if they didn't jam you so darn close up to the top of the scanner it wouldn't be so bad! I take Ativan to relax me and I do just fine. The first time I took one I thought I would be tough, how bad could it be? I spent the entire time in the scanner, which felt like 2 hours, imagining myself freaking out and demanding they get me out NOW! I tried to position myself so i could keep an eye on one or the other of the openings, but you can't move or the scan doesn't work, so it was tough! With the Ativan, I am able to close my eyes and relax, as Cheryl says, and it goes quickly with no problems! I figure we have enough anxiety with this whole beast, I don't need any unnecessarily added!

    PET
I am very claustrophobic too. I found that with having them turn the music really loud so I could hear it and concentrate on it on both sides that helped. Plus I asked the tech to inform me periodically how much longer. And, of course, keeping my eye shut the whole time. In the first one I had, before I figured out the music thing, I started counting and just kept that up the whole time. Can't remember how far I got but it helped. For the CT scan I found the berry contrast worked best for me.

    Turkey time
So glad to hear your good news. I just had my mamogram and received a good report in the mail today. Celebrate in Turkey, and be careful not to fall off any bars there.
