    Dear maglets,

We are sorry that you are going through a difficult time. The easiest way to locate other CSN members with similar experiences is to type keywords (such as "metastatic colon cancer," "liver metastases," "liver mets," etc.) on the search bar at the top of the home page. You can refine your search by clicking on the “Advance search” link listed underneath the search field. The major categories of content on CSN are blogs, discussion boards, “About Me” pages, etc. For example, if you are looking for a specific resource on the Resource Library, you can limit your search to resources only by clicking on the "resource" and "advanced search" button at the bottom of the "advanced search" box. Remember that you must be logged on if you want to post anything on a discussion boards, view personal pages, use the chat room, etc.

For information about metastatic liver cancer, please contact your American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345. We have cancer information specialists around the clock. They might be able to provide you with information about recurrent liver cancer and its treatments.

    Cordially,
    Your CSN Staff

    You can do it
Sorry that I didn't see this post a lot sooner and I hope you followed CSN suggestion and found others to support you. I post on the colorectal board, but my husband has similar situation. Had a liver resection last October..A reoccurrance in July this year and now scheduled for RFA in November. Hang in there. Investigate all the options. A second resection is sometimes possible, rfa may be possible , and there are others. Your not alone. It is disheartening I know to face this again, but you can do it.

    thank you
thank you Diane for those words of hope. To tell truth I really have not used this site because I have never been able to negotiate....i really should try again. On Friday of this week I had a PET scan....you hve to buy them in Canada....that will show other mets and determine if my liver surgeon will operate again....so far he says he will but will wait for the PEt results.....Maggie

I read your story, and am going through metastatic or secondary cancer from a tumor removal 2 years ago. My message to you is take one day, one moment at a time. You came through this before and people everywhere are pulling for you and here for you. I can't tell you this will be the end of it, but I can tell you today is your gift of life, and you can make it through today. Hang in there, you are in my thoughts and prayers....

My dad is giving up, help!
    Hi Linda,
I read your response to Maglets. Thanks.

My Dad had a liver resection in October 2007. He's been diagnosed since November with recurrence. We've been told that he should be taking Nexavar. He began the medication December 26, 2008. He's 80 years old.

He's a fighter, but he's been suffering from diarrhea since late November. So far the oncologist has not determined the cause of the diarrhea. I believe that this has driven him to announce this evening that he's given up. He just wants to die. He's very frustrated and has become difficult to reason with for everything. He's so weak.

Have you had this problem, or is there anyone out there that can advise me? I am a cancer survivor myself. I don't know where else to turn this evening.

Take care of yourself. I hope you can help out with some advice. We keep praying, but I'm worried.

    Thanks,
    Louise

Oh Louise my heart goes out to you and your dad. I have never taken the drug you are speaking of so I can't help there. I had a second liver re-section in Nov and after that I had a really bad bout of the blues...like your dad I was ready to give up. I went to my GP and she tried and anti-depressant....i really believe it has helped. Now I( will do chemo again.

Louise just on a purely practical note ....try looking at the colorectal board on this site. It is very active. There are lots of people with liver re-sections there and I think you would get lots of response...it's a much busier place.

Take best of care and good luck,
    Hugs

    Bless You!
    Hi Mags,

Thanks for your quick response. I will ask the oncologist today about an antidepressant. It is good to hear that you are feeling better.
As a cancer survivor I know how special it feels when you feel a bit better. Onward with chemo, I'll keep you in my prayers.

    Let's stay in touch!

    Your dad
Louise thank you for your reply. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad because at his age it can be hard to find a reason to "keep fighting." Keep encouraging him and talk to the doctor about an antidepressant. I take one and it does help stave off the depression.

Be strong, and we will keep you and your dad in our prayers.

    hi/question
    Hi Mags,

OK, now you're going to be the expert in my life ;). I go for a liver biopsy Monday. Friday, a CT scan found 8 large masses on my liver. Is that where you started? And what's a resection?
