Endometrial Cancer Recurrance after 18 months

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer on 2/2/07, Had a D&C on 2/9/2007, it showed a large amount of cancer in the lower third of the uterus. I was then refered to an OB/GYN Oncologist for consultation and treatment. I had a total Hysterectomy including cervix, tubes, and ovaries. They also took six lymph nodes and did pelvic wash. The pathology showed clean ovaries, tubes and cervix. Nothing in the lymph nodes or the pelvic washings. I had twenty-five pelvic radiation treatments and three brachradiation treatments. I was classified has having stage 1C3 endomedtrial cancer. Everything was going well having follow up with my GYN oncologist every 6 months and my Radiological Oncologist every 6 months so i was seeing one of the MD's every three months. I got clean bill of health up until July of this year. I started having pain in my lower left quadrant, wondered what was going on. I was out of state at the time so I waited until I returned to my home to consult my Primary Care Physician, was diagnosed with Diverticulitis. Had some blood work done and started the antibiotics Prescribed. The next day decided I wanted to make sure that this was what was really going on and asked for a CT scan. Result showed diverticulitis in the lower left quadrant, sigmoid colon. But it also showed something blocking the view of the transverse colon. Went to see my surgeon. He had done the colonscopy I had in Feb 2007. After looking at the CT report sent me for an Ultrasound. Since the CT actually showed something on the abdominal wall. As I was scheduled to the Gyn Oncologist the following week. I got a copy of both the CT and Ultrasound and brought that and the paper reports to that visit. The MD felt this would not be cancer for a number of reasons, but ordered a biopsy. The result showed Endometrial cancer that was identical to the cells that wer in my uterus. I am now waiting for a pet scan to see what happens next. Sounds like possible surgery, radiation and chemo, depending on the pet scan.

  • The easiest way to ...
    Dear jrkrnme,

The easiest way to locate other CSN members with similar experiences is to type keywords (such as "endometrial cancer," "endometrial recurrence," "treatment endometrial recurrence," etc.) on the search bar at the top of the home page. You can refine your search by clicking on the “Advance search” link listed underneath the search field. The major categories of content on CSN are blogs, discussion boards, “About Me” pages, etc. For example, if you are looking for a specific resource on the Resource Library, you can limit your search to resources only by clicking on the "resource" and "advanced search" button at the bottom of the "advanced search" box. Remember that you must be logged on if you want to post anything on a discussion boards, view personal pages, use the chat room, etc.

    Cordially,

    Endometrial Cancer Recurrance
On this site for first time and surprised I've found someone with my kind of cancer. I was diagnosed stage 3C endometrial cancer May of 2007. Radical hysterectomy preceded 5 weeks of lower pelvic radiation and chemo which consisted of taxol, adriamyacin, and cysplatin. Clear for six months then bam -- It's back. Peri-aeortal. UAB docs wouldn't operate but my GYN/ONC cared enough to. Now I'm in 2nd week of radiation (again). This time my radiation is IMRT. Would love to hear how someone else with endometrial cancer is doing. Kind of feeling alone. Whoops! Should have posted on endometrial cancer recurrance site. sorry.

    Endometrial Treatment- Recurrent - Metastatic
    Hello heidiandcycron

I also have endometrial adenocarcinoma, stage 4, ......it was 1st diaognised in july 2005, i had the radical hysteractomy, did 6 rounds of chemo- Adriamycin/Carboplatin.....my oncologist said the cancer was gone.....stopped the treatment and within 4 months it recurred in my pelvic and peritoneum and outside of the liver.....oncologist put me back on chemo regimen with single agent- Taxol....I have been taking taxol for almost 20 months....the last CT scan shows progression and thus the taxol is not working anymore.....my oncologist will be discussing with me for another chemo regimen.

You are not alone.......with positive attitude, good diet and excercise in addition to the conventional medicine, you will be fine.....take one day at a time,.....

How are you doing with your radiation.....will you be taking chemo as well as radiation....if so, can you please tell me which medication of chemo has been recommended to you?

take care and I'll pray for you,
