I hope I'm not bothering everyone with all these questions. I met a friend that had a grandson with cancer, and her husband had cancer, both died. The reason why they died she told me that they were given chemo, and was ok for a couple of years, then was given chemo again and it didn't work, she said it only works one time only. Is this true, or she doesn't know what she's talking about?

    Dear Stardust:

Both of the individuals you mention may have had agressive cancers that chemo was unable to cure. I know many people that have had chemo 2, 3 or 4 times with success each time. Many times, if a cancer is resistant to one type of chemo drug another drug will work just fine in getting rid of the tumor.

    Stardust,
Everyone has a story and everyone is different. Take what you hear with a grain of salt. Yes, many people die from their cancers after chemo, but many are cured. I know people who have had chemo 3 times and are still here to talk about it. So don't let these stories get you down.
