What is the context in which SUV was used? In a report?

I looked at my PET scan report and see SUV mentioned. It is the Standardized Uptake Value. I don't know the specifics but it is a measurement of the metabolic activity of the area they are looking at. I believe the higher the number the higher the metabolic activity, i.e. it lights up.

Standard Uptake Value. My recent PET showed an increase from 1.6 to 2.8 SUV's which means it's probably a malignant tumor. 2.5 and above is not good.
