Hi All. A little history: Stage II colon; surgery August 30, 2006 w/9 rounds of Folfox ending Feb 2007. Dx'd w/endometrial ca June 2007. I am scheduled for surgery (hysterectomy) next Wednesday and have contracted a cold. Will they delay surgery if I show symptoms at my pre-op on Friday? I'm trying hard to get rid of the cold in the next 2 days. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Kirsten,
I maybe totally wrong, but I bet they go ahead and take you in.
When my uncle was sick (cold/flu like) he would aways "sweat" it out! Said that was the only way to get rid of it. Now mind you....my uncle was a very elderly man and that's what his family taught him but it seemed to work.
I know that's not much help but thought I'd give it a shot!
When I had my colon surgery...I tried to get the surgeon to give me a hyserectomy at the same time but he would (unless he got in there and something was wrong).
Know I'll have to have one in the next few years.
My best to you. You'll be just fine I know it!
Think of you on Friday!

Not sure about the surgery since I think it depends on if there is any kind of infectuous kinds of things. Try to get some of the saline nose spray that is on the shelves in all the drug and grocery stores in the same area as the other cold remedy stuff (their is a really expensive brand and some that are not nearly as expensive and I read that they are do the same thing so you don't have to buy the most expensive). My sisters swear by it and say it cuts at least a week off their colds. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. And be sure to drink plenty of fluids.
