Hi Everyone,
I hope you're enjoying a great 4th of July!
My surgeon mentioned an internal pain pump that could be placed during surgery that would disperse pain medication evenly 24 hours per day.
Has anyone heard of this or ever had one?
Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamie, I only had the epidural, but can tell you it was wonderful. I was able to walk the halls the next morning w/o any pain. Hope this pain "pump" works just as well for you. Wishing you an uneventful surgery and Godspeed recovery.
I had the epidural for 5 days after colon resect, and 4 days after liver.

My son had a Medtronics pain pump surgically implanted and it worked wonders. I believe that this option is not available unless your pain management cannot be controlled by oral drugs. I think the site for Medtronics is www.medtronics.com. Also there is a yahoo group called the pumpsters, who are not cancer patients, just chronic pain patients who have the pump.0
