Hi everyone: Diagnosed Stage IV with mets to liver and lungs, currently in Buenos Aires trying out a new treatment along with six weeks of chemo (Erbitux and Irinotecan). Latest scan results show that the lungs are clear (yippee) and there has been shrinkage in the liver tumors. The doctors are considering liver resection. Has anyone had a liver resection after mets to the lungs that was cleared up through chemo or surgery? Monica

I had a lung resection and then a liver resection. Both very painful operations. How is the erbitux? I heard it causes severe acne? Is that true? Best of luck in your new treatment.

Did I ever...I looked like an adolescent going through puberty x 10. But I was told that it is a very good sign that the medicine is working.

Yes I was told the same thing. The worst the rash the best it is working. They called it a "rash". Did it clear up when you stopped? Did it leave scars? I should also note after my liver resection, I did have a recurrence in the liver. I then had chemoembolization and RFA done on the tumor. So far so good. My liver has been clean since mid-January. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about your situation but I do hope things work out. I am also stage 4 and had a liver resection. I did not have mets to lungs..at least yet...The liver resection went well at Stanford. The first week is kinda hard moving and getting up but soon I was up and moving...much faster than colon surgery. All my best

HI Monica!! ,i'm contacting you because My father lives in Buenos Aires
He was diagnosed Stage III in 2005, liver mets and resection in 2006 , the latest PET found some mets on lungs and liver . He is seeing Dr Coppola ,The Doctor recommended Erbitux and Xeloda ( or Avastin and Xeloda) , could you give me some info on the new treatment that you're using ( Reflexive Therapy) ?
My father had Liver resection before lung mets, but i could recommend his surgeon , Dr Ferraina , he is really good for liver surgery
I hope that you're doing fine
