Hello and best wishes to all, I would love to know if any of you have ever used Sir Spheres or SIRT as treatment for liver mets, I have not seen it mentioned here. I do not post often but read daily and admire you all, my husband was diagnosed stage4 rectal with liver mets in april 05 and we have been going with treatments ever since. Quick synopsis: 5weeks chemo/radiation, anterior resection with ileostomy aug 05, 11 cycles Folfox with Avastin, Portal Vein Embolisation April06, 60% liver resection May 06, first scan post resection showed two small tumours so 4 cycles Folfiri with Avastin and liver resection November 06. Unfortunately Brian got a small bowel obstruction which required surgery Xmas eve, recovery was complicated by two liver abscesses but since scan in april 07 Brian now has 4 liver tumours showing. He starts Folfiri with Avastin on monday and while we feel our options are running out we cannot give up on this, we were hoping for RFA to treat these but after asessment they are not suitable.Sorry for the long post but would love some feedback on SIRT.
Thanking you all and wishing you well,

Jackie

    Jackie,

Debra (debralla) from this site had the Sir Spheres treatment in San Antonio. You might try to contact her through this site and she'll be more than happy to give you any information you need.

    Yes,
I know someone who had Sir Spheres and has had no liver problems since then. The few remaining liver tumors she has have been stable for years ( I think they are dead). There was a radio interview that I posted about a few days ago. She (Suzanne) talks about Sir Spheres and also gives the name of a website and address where she can be contacted. Look back through the old posts and you'll see it.
    Good luck,
    Susan

I also posted a long time ago an article Suzanne sent me about SIRT. You can type it into the search and I'm sure it will come up.
    I hope that helps,
    Susan

Thank you to Susan and Kerry, I have mailed Debralla on this site and look forward to hearing from her. I have also listened with interest to Suzannes interview and visited the website she mentioned so thanks Susan for that.
    Take care and be well,

    Jackie.

This story resembles my husband's soooo much. My husbands diagonosed with Stage4 rectal with liver mets in October 2005. Had radiation w/5FU, then cycles of FolFox with Avastin. Had complete rectal removal with colostomy in February 2006, more FolFox /Avastin then 60% liver resection in September 2006. More FolFox / Avastin, then Sir Spheres in March 2007. Now on FolFox / Avastin again, waiting for tumor shrinkage for another liver resection. Tumors too close to the portal vein, so must get some shrinkage. In between all this, also had to chemo-embolizations.
Sir spheres helps, but destroys tumors from inside out, so the outside is still too big for surgery.

I don't know anything about Sir Spheres, but I remember that it was mentioned a few weeks ago. Try using the SEARCH box. Good luck with treatment. Maybe someone else will help you. I've noticed that there aren't as many posts on the weekend so hang in there.
