Hi All,

There is life after cancer and life is just grand!

Yesterday I took part in the 2007 Big Sur International Marathon on the beautiful CA coast. 6000 runners and walkers participated in this event. You can see event pictures and stats at www.bsim.org.

I walked 21.6 miles in 5:31, a little more than 15 minutes per file. I could have done it a lot faster had I not stopped to smell the roses, take the pictures and dispense advil. I had so much fun!

And what difference a year makes! A year ago, in April 2006, I was 2 months into Folfox and strugging to gain weight. A year later, I am NED, happy, healthy, strong, and having learned so much about the meaning of life.

For those of you who are now going through your treatments, strugging with the nausea, neuropathy, low RBC/WBC, radiation side effects, you have to believe. You have to believe in life, believe in healing, and most of all, believe in yourself. You too will prevail.

I want to extend an invitation to all of you - come walk with me next year and celebrate life!

I have posted a couple of pictures from the event on my personal web page.

Cheers,
Ying

Ying, you are inspirational! Next year I want to walk a marathon too! I am starting my second Folfox infusion in half an hour and I can't tell you how much it lifts the spirits to hear stories like yours.

    All the best, Catherine

    Ying,

You are truly my hero....I am so proud to call you friend!!!

Fighting cancer is a bit like a marathon, don't you think? We get tired, but still we plug on.

    Hurray for the warrior!!!

    Hugs, Kathi

And Kathi, know that you are my shero too :-)

Cancer and Marathons do make interesting analogies - on marathons you stop to eat, drink, line up to use the port-o-potty, and you're tired for the whole time. In case of cancer, you're tired for the whole time and you stop to throw up :-) :-), and family memebers let you push to the front of the line at the loo :-)

You're doing it with me next year, right!?

    Hugs for you too!
