Hi all,
Having some issues and would like some advice. My pelvic muscle have been very weak since my surgery 2/5. I had a full hysterctomy at the time of my resection. Anyway I have been having a bit of pain at the end of urinating pretty much since surgery. They tested me for a UTI and it came back negative. Since then the pain has still remained. I also noticed this week I have been having trouble with bladder control. It hasn't been that big of a deal until last night I wet the bed and didn't even know. I have some Ditropan left over from the hospital. Took one of those and that helped. I can't get into the Dr today because of Good Friday to test for another UTI. Has this happened to any of you???

First, you should rule out the possibility of a more serious problem.

I haven't had your specific problem, but when I don't drink enough water, I get the irritation and pain that closely resembles an UTI.

As for the incontinance, do you perform the kiegal (I'm sure I've spelled it wrong) excercises? These are simple to do anytime, anywhere and help greatly with bladder control. If you aren't familiar, it simply resembles the muscle control that you would use if you were to try to stop urinating mid-stream. Make sure you perform 10-12 of these several times a day. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing serious and these simple tricks will help.

I had the same surgical proceedures....total hyster, bowel resection (lost my rectum and sig colon...so there could have been an issue with bowel incontinence...wasn't thank goodness).

I totally agree with chynabear...if I don't drink enough water, I get the UTI symptoms.
Also the kegel exercises....do them when you are urinating is the best way to start...try to stop the flow completely, count to 5 (I usually got to 3), and then release....

BTW, these exercises can improve the vaginal muscle tone as well, I know my beau was VERY happy about that (blush, blush!!!!).

Good vibes that that is all it is!

    Hugs, Kathi

P.S. I am an old lady...incontinance hasn't hit yet, even after both the surgery AND the years slipping by...hehehehehe!
