Hi everyone,

I just want you to all know that I read your posts everyday and always keep all of you in my prayers. I haven't been as active on the site lately. Things have been more hectic in my life with being 8 1/2 months pregnant and taking care of a 16-month old.

Anyway, my father will be having his 3-month follow-up CAT scan on Monday. We won't get the results until the following week. For those who aren't familiar, my dad was diagnosed stage IV cc mets to liver a year ago. Went through six months of chemo and became NED in September. His last scan looked good, but now I am worried because the onc told us that my dad will most likely have a recurrence 6-months to a year post-chemo. Well, now it has been 6 months post chemo.

Just asking that you all pray for my dad that he gets a good report for a clear CAT scan. I'm also asking that you pray for me and my unborn child. I am scheduled to be induced the day after we get the CAT scan results. It is a very stressful time in my life right now.

Thank you for all of your prayers, and God bless all of you.

-Lee-

Hi Pink , will keep you and your dad and your baby in my prayers. Think positive. As someone told me on here if doctors could give perfect predictions they should be giving us the winning lottery numbers or winning it themselves. If it does, and that's an IF, your dad and you will deal with it again. Take one day at a time. God Bless and keep us posted.

    Hi Lee -

It sounds like your Dad's oncologist is falling back on statistics - interesting, but they have nothing to do with your Dad's personal situation. I was / Am? Stage IV with liver met - have been NED since 8/26/05 (after two chemo treatments) and have been off chemo for 15 months (after 6 treatments) - still NED as of January. So try and stay positive and realize that it is also quite possible that your Dad will not recur within 6 months.

Take care (and best wishes for that new baby)
    Betsy

    Hi Lee,
Your dad and you and new baby will be in my prayers.
Don't worry so much...everything will be fine. The doctors stats are all old and outdated. Remember they gave my dad 1 year to live about 1.5 years ago and he is still around feeling better than ever working full time and getting his chemo every other week.
Try to update us when you can. I know you will be very busy soon with the new baby!

    Best Wishes,
    Sue

I agree with what others have said: statistics have their place but they tell us NOTHING about an individual. I am planning to be one of the ones that defies the statistics -- and I'd love for your Dad to join me! Sending best wishes and positive thoughts for his scan. Meanwhile -- you concentrate on that baby! We look forward to welcoming him or her into the world! Take care of yourself -- that is so important.
