Hi all,
Need all the good vibes and prayers I can get. Surgery is scheduled for Monday morning. I have been waiting for this moment since diagnosis September 18th. CT scan showed a "markedly" reduction in tumor size, however it still looks to be in 2 lymph nodes. Most likely will end up with a permanent colostomy. I am having a total hysterectomy also. I have been stressed and nervous, but am feeling peaceful.
I appreciate all the advice and support you have given me over the past few months. You all have made this time much less scary. It's nice to know that I am not the only stage 3 rectal cancer person in their 30's to go through this. I will let you all know my outcome when I get home from the hospital.
My own private Super Bowl party will consist of clear liquids and Mag Citrate.... :)

Kiersten

    Dear Kiersten,
I don't think you have any idea how strong you are. Of course you have only good thought and prayers coming your way - and extra good vibes for your surgeon as well as you!
I will certainly be thinking of you on Monday. God speed to have you home soon to post again!!

Here's hoping that the lymph nodes are clear and your surgery goes well. Be sure to try to walk as much as you can (easier said than done).

I will pray for your successful surgery.

I will say a prayer for you. I probably will behaving my surgery this week sometime. My CT is tomorrow or Tuesday and I'm feeling some anxiety.

Good to hear you are peaceful. I can't imaging having to wait that long to have the surgery. Looking forward to your return and some good news from you.

    May God bless.

I was just a bit older than Stacy when I was diagnosed at age 35 with stage IV, so don't feel alone on the age thing. There are a few others on the board who were also diagnosed in their 30s. I wish you a very succesful surgery and recovery. One good thing about being younger, generally, is shorter recovery time. Let us know if you've any questions or need any specific recovery advice.

    Kiersten-

Best of luck to you. You'll be in our prayers.

Surgery is the right thing to do - just think - every little step you take is one more step toward complete remission. And you most certainly are not alone - my husband is in his 30's - Stage IV. I believe that the youngins' don't feel it as early on, which stinks, but it also means that they are healthy and able to put up a darn scrappy fight.

    We'll be thinking of you!

I hope you like football enough to take your mind off your surgery for a little while. Maybe you could put some of your prep. in a cocktail glass. I'll be praying for you. Cheers, jams

Best of luck to you, Kiersten. You have shown a lot of strength, and that'll get you through this next phase. You can add yellow jello jigglers to that yummy menu! and the ads should be entertaining!
Good luck Monday; walk, walk, walk after surgery and stay ahead of any discomfort. Update us when you are able! Judy
