Clean scan!

Just got back from the doctor and my scan is clean. There is a nodule (I'm not sure that is the correct term) that has grown slightly, very slightly, but the doctor said it could just be the slice in the film. If the slice was on the top of the thing last time and this time it was in the middle, it would appear larger. We're taking a wait and see attitude. He's not been wrong about anything at all yet and I trust him. He is so unconcerned about it he said I could go four months between scans instead of three. I'm just going to continue praying that this thing never comes back! I have been truly blessed through this ordeal and I thank God every day for allowing me to go on.

    First I had surgery, removal of the upper left lobe. I was fortunate that the tumor had not breached the chest wall, but they did find microscopic traces of cancer on two lymph nodes, one inside the lobe and one right outside the lung. That was on Oct. 20, 2005. I started chemo, carboplatin and taxol, on Dec. 6 and ended March 14, 2005. I've been fortunate enough to have clean scans since the surgery.
    While I have complete faith in God that I will be healed, I think I am going to get some maitake mushroom extract as a preventitive. If it's good enough for Sloan-Kettering to do a clinical trial, it's good enough for me! After all, the Lord helps those that help themselves, right?

    You give me hope, I have not started treatment and meet w/doctor to plan treatment, I pray for you

    I also had a small nodule that changed very slowly. Dr(s). recomended scans every 4 to 6 months. I insisted on 3 months and turned out it was cancer. Had surgery at stage 1a. Be aggressive its your life.

    Thank you for your advice, jadjr. There is something in this area called histoplasmosis and 80% of the people here have the same spots. The radiologist and oncologist both believe this is scar tissue from the histo. That said, I left with the understanding that if I shoud change my mind about waiting four months it will only take a phone call and I can get a scan at three. I guess I just have a lot of faith in my doctor. He's been right about everything from day one.

    ckp127, I had a CT about 2 weeks ago and they found a 3.4cm 3.7 cm mass. The radiologist is not that concerned about it because it is smooth (no stricture I think the word is) and no "fingers" however it is big.

    Anyway the reason I'm writing to you is I was wondering if you would mind me asking how big your spot is (if it's a nodule I think it has to be under 3 cm) and what region do you live in. I live in the midwest and I'm told that because of our rural enviornment that histoplasmosis is more common. Hope you don't mind me asking I see a surgeon monday to go over the CT and I'm scared to death of what he might find. Thanks for any help

    I live in KY, close to Cincinnati.
    The doctor said the spot is really, really tiny, if he gave a measurement I sure don't remember it. I saw it on the film at the surgeons office in October and it was a small pinhead size.
