Sorry to hear of your problem nightowl. Have you asked your Dr about injections? Or, have you considered the use of a pump?

Sorry, those are the only two suggestions I have. Perhaps someone else can be of more help.

    Good luck,

    Roger

I also had the same problems you are having with erections. It's been 2 years and 8 months since my RP. I tried the injections, the Viagra/Cialis, and the pump. No real success with any of them. I did not try the items you mentioned in your question. I now have an implant which works every time. I am finally at ease with my situation. If you are interested in more information, contact me.

Regarding the implant surgery: I had one horizontal incision on the lowest area of my abdomen just above my penis 3.5 inches long. To me it was amazing that he was able to get the 2 chambers into my penis, the pump into my scrotum, and the reservoir in my lower abdomen through that one opening but he did. I'm sure that was the reason for my scrotum and penis being black and blue for a week or two. I spent one night in the hospital and the catheter was removed before I left the hospital. I went back to work after two weeks. There was pain, but it was managable. You have to allow 6 weeks before trying to inflate. The pump was awkward at first but there is a learning curve. You get used to it. I've had mine for 1.5 years with no problems. Yes, I can have orgasms. Short term side effect for me: You will want slacks with a looser fit in the crotch. The pump is the same size as a testicle, therefore you need more room. Also, there is a small amount of self inflation during the day. I just go to the restroom and deflate. No problem. I have no regrets. I would positively do it again. I apologize for the length of this post, and some of the graphic details, but if this post will help any of you make a difficult decision, then it was worth the effort.

thanks for the input you guys. I had an injection but didn't like the pain at the injection site which lasted for about 3 days, although i did have an erection for a couple hours. i bought one of those rejoyn pumps at rite aid but haven't figured the right ring combination because the blood seems to leak back out too soon and lose the erection. i haven't tried muse because i heard it irritates the urethra and needs refrigeration...blkdog, do they have a new formulation that doesn't need to be stored in the frig yet?? NexMed has a product Alprox-TD which is applied as a local cream and acts like the injection but held up by FDA i guess. Thanks for any input.

Sorry to hear of your problem. I was a little more fortunate. I had my surgery on 12/27/06 and got my cat. out on 1/10/07. I was told I would probably not get a satisfactory erection for 3 months to possibly 12 months. To my surprise, I woke up the next morning with an erection hard enough to have penetration with my wife. I have not taken any ED mets yet. I had lap. surgery. From all I read before my surgery, it said to make sure you have the right doctor. I used Dr. Fray Marshall at Emory University. Dr. Marshall is one of the top 3 prostate surgeons in the country. That may have made the difference.

    Stuart,

I am considering shots to see if they improve my viagra mediated erections. Four hours is a little much, but just what is the downside?

    Any other injection advice.

    Thanks.
