hello all. i haven't posted in a little while but i truly read these posts and pray for all of you each and every single day.

Well it's scan time again and i'm totally sick with worry AGAIN. Brief history, dad was diagnosed stage 3, 5 postitive nodes on July 7th, 2004, surgery July 30th, followed by 6 months of chemo. He has thankfully (thank you God) been cancer free since but once again, it's scan time and i feel like vomiting. His last scan was this past June.

I wonder if it ever gets better as far as the scans are concerned. It seems like I worry more and more each time.

Anyway please keep him in your prayers and as always i will continually keep all you wonderful people here in mine as well.

God bless you all
Susana

It is normal to be anxious around test time, for the caregivers as well as the patient. It would be nice if the test can be scheduled sooner and the results given right away but that doesn't usually happen. I'm not sure if it gets any better as I am early in the course but there are others here further down the road who can give you more insight.

    Hi Susana,

I'm glad to hear that your dad has been doing good. I think we all stress over the tests and if we could get the results right away we would definately feel better. I'm still early in the process too but I don't think this type of thing ever gets better. Here are some good vibes for your dad that he is still "dancing with NED". HUGS.

We all stress about it. Think of it as reaffirming his NED. "Thy will be done." Just leave it up to God. Nothing you can do and nothing has changed since last week so why stress this week? Easier said than done. Thank you for the prayers, we can all use them. jams

Hiya Susana...nice to see you again. After 2y10m of being NED I can tell you that I still get worried before my CT's.I am sure Jen does too.I guess because some are NED then do unfortunately have a re-ocurrance keeps us all in limbo.I think my kids probably feel the same as you.I have scans in Jan. and I'll bet there are also some anxious moments then for our family.
Our best wishes for you and your dad, Ross n Jen

    Hi Susna,

I am almost 3.5 years out and I still get nervous about scans. Take a deep breath. My scan last Sat. remains NED. Your dads will be too.

    Susana,

Yes, I too know the words anxiety and fear all too well. Everytime my dad has his scans, I am sick with worry and have nightmares a month before. Well, this time is no exception. With my dad's next colonoscopy and scans less than a month away, I am filled with so much fear. I try not to think about it, but it's always in the back of my mind. And yes, I've been having those nightmares. This time, I am really worried because it's been almost three months since my dad's last chemo treatment. At least when he was on the chemo, it was like a security blanket. Now that blanket is gone and I don't know what to expect. I'm sure your dad's scans will turn out just fine. Keeping you and your dad in my prayers.

Here's to another CLEAN scan...after all, it's just a formality...he WILL be NED still!

    Ahoy, Susana -

No need for you to feel like vomiting - there are enough of us here who have vomited sufficiently to cover your quota! Remember, scans are to just make sure. Seeing as it's been less than 6 months since his last scan, if in the unlikely event there IS something there, they will catch it VERY early, and that's all any of us can hope for!

You hang tough and give your vomit muscles a break (although it IS a great way to get a set of 6-pack abs!).

Keeping you and your dad in my prayers.

You know, dad, maybe we should open a training salon....most semi's have turned it into an art form!!!

    Always, your devoted daughter!!!
