Hi everyone,
I saw the gyno on Friday and he believes that I have Adenomyosis which is endometriosis of the inside of the uterine wall. The mass that was found on my ultrasound was an adenomyoma. This is his opinion based on the transvaginal ultrasound he performed. My options are to try and control this with birth control or cure it with a hysterectomy. I have made the decision to have a hysterectomy because I am done having children and the birth control method is so iffy in treating the symptoms. So anyways that is where I am. I hope he is correct on his diagnosis. If anyone has been diagnosed with this condition please let me know your experiences. Thanks again to all who have provided support and advice. You are all in my prayers and I think of you each and every day.

I'm so happy that you do not have a malignant situation!!! I had endometriosis since I was 16. My sister had adenomyosis. So, I am familiar with both. I think you are making the right decision if it's right for you. Everyone is different, so you have to weigh the facts.

My best to you and I will pray for your quick recovery. Having had a hysterectomy I can tell you that it wasn't as bad as I thought. I always credit my wonderful doctor for the way he handled everything regarding surgery, recovery, etc. So, maybe it depends. But when my sister had hers in 1978 it was horrible. We have come so far since then. I'm sure you'll be fine. Let us know when all is done and you are on the road to recovery.
    Prayers and hugs. . .

I wish you the best of luck with the hysterectomy. Will it be done by a gynecologic oncologist? This may be something to consider, if it's an option. Because you have an opinion, rather than an actual diagnosis, you may be better off having a gyn/oncologist perform the surgery. This is just my thought-if there was any doubt in my mind, I'd want to go to the best doctor I could for the surgery.
