Could it be throat cancer?

Hi! I am new to this site and need some advice. I am a music teacher that had nodules 20 years ago and has fought horseness alot. Last week I went for my yearly physical and my doctor noticed my change in voice. She also noticed some lymph nodes swollen alittle. I told her that I had had sore throats off and on and one over Thanksgiving. My family doctor didn't see any redness, but gave me an antibiotic anyway. To make a long story short, I went to an ENT the next day and they did a scope. No nodules, but they found 4 white spots near my vocal cords. They are treating me for three weeks for laryngopharyngeal reflux. She told me if in 3 weeks they will rescope and if things have not improved, they will biopsy. I have done alot of research and nothing on this relux shows white spots. Do I need to be concerned? I am not having a good feeling about any of this, but not taking me directly for the biopsy is a good sign right? Has anyone else been down this same road? Please respond. Do I need to be worried here? Thanks! Kelly

I think it would be a good thing that they don't want to do a biopsy yet. Only advice at this time I would give would not to over worry, that's not good and if they do find something, get a second opinon.
I had my voice box removed 15 months ago but I had a tumor hiding next to it. Good Luck and God Bless.
If you have any more questions, just leave it here. I check it every couple of days

    Spacey,
What were your symptoms? Did you have horseness and sore throats? Do you mind telling me your story?

of course I don't mind, they say I have been through a lot but to me it was nothing compared to others. I guess it started earily 2004, in march, never been one to go to the doctor, but did. Was waking up and would be very horse in the morning. In the evening I would be ok, I was a smoker for 30 years up till this point. The doctor gave me Antibiotics for it, went back after I ran out of pills, gave me stronger ones, then dummy me, went on a month vacation. Then it started getting worse, could not talk in the mornings and my right ear started to really hurt. I went and got ear drops, that didn't help. At that point I knew something was really wrong and hooked it back to Dallas. My dotor sent me to ENT at that point and he saw the tumor, so he told me what he would do (radiation or surgery and radiation) but he was sending me to the what I think was the best surgeon in Dallas. What happen after that is another story but listen, Kelly, I think they did not see no tumor,if anything, they have got it so earily. I think you will be fine, believe me I know, I was scared to death. You have done so good going to your doctor earily and your doctor is good for sending you to ENT,instead of giving you pills.
my e-mail is space123cowboy@cs.com. You seem like a very nice person and you will be fine but stay on top of it,catch it earily

Hello, my husband was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and he's doing radiation everyday and 2 days of chemo. He had the feeding tube done a week again and constantly eating. Has gained 8 pounds. For over a year he would be hoarse. No sore throats. His PET scan came back with no lymph nodes affected and I praise God for that. He's doing 39 treatments of the radiation and his last doctor's visit, he told him he was doing good. I will e-mail you to hear your story. Have a bless day

OMG, You and your family have had too much of this, my heart goes out to you and your Dad, I had my voicebox removed sept of 04, this past thurs. woke up with a lump on my jaw, been to the cancer doctor and got to get a biopsy mon. I have been thinking not again, don't want to do this again, I had always heard if it comes back it is bad. But the doctor said there is a chance it is just a infection. I lost my Mother to stomach cancer, started in her esophagus and when it came back 5 years later, nothing they could do. I do have a friend that has battled it for at least 20 years, almost half her life, it keeps moving all over her body. God Bless you and you must be one hell of a fighter, just like your dad
