She has less than 1 year to live. That is what the doctor told my husband after my last surgery in November of 2004. And yet, here I am, CEA at 2.1, CT scan negative, PET scan negative: NED.
What a glorious and humbling feeling!
My journey started in Jan. 2004.A colonoscopy found stage III cancer in my colon. After colon resection and 8 months of chemotherapy I was pronounced clear. One month later I was in the hospital with a 15cm tumor on my ovary, a colon cancer metastasis. Hysterectomy and more chemotherapy followed. My oncologist told me I was now stage IV and should not expect too much from chemotherapy. But I decided to let them talk numbers all they wanted, I was going to fight this!
And with your help I did.
I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I never posted much, but I drew immeasurable strength from your posts. I want to thank you for answering my questions, for being patient with me and for allowing me to be part of such a wonderful community. I want to especially thank Grandma047 (Judy) and Emily, you have touched my life.
I don't know if the cancer will return, but for now I plan to enjoy life to the fullest.
You are all in my prayers, my thoughts are with you every day.
Don't ever give up, there always is hope.
Regine
