A web site that lists the "official" colors of the different cancers? Like pink for breast, dark blue for colorectal?

Thanks so much.

Dark Blue? I still say our color should be white with a brown stripe down the middle... That is certainly more apropos than pink (although Maura tells me she looks better in pink than she does dark blue, so maybe it's all about coordinating accessories?)

I'm sticking with my white and brown - who's with me???

So, yea, I'll come clean: just a girlie-girl......
Oh well.....also have a phone number:
    1-800-348-4673 (Choose Hope, Inc.)
My list is slightly different from Angel's - odd, cuz it is from the same website....
Anyway....I have yet to see a blue bracelet on anyone; for that matter - nothing but Lance's yellow bracelets. My chemo nurse gave me a Lavender one with the color-list and info.

I say designing some cool Sterling and Amber bracelets sounds like a good plan....

I wear a blue one right along side my yellow Lance bracelet. Got it off the Colon Cancer Alliance web site.

Not one person has asked me about it either. There are so many of these bracelets out there now. NIKE, ball players, fund raisers....

    You know, Barb -

I was reading somewhere recently that in the highschool and college culture, women who wear the blue wrist band are stating that they are members of the Cryps Street Gang. Maybe people are too afraid to ask you about it! Just watch out for anyone you may encounter who is wearing a red band... multiple myeloma notwithstanding, they may be a Blood and shoot you!

Actually I think I read that in Newsweek, so it's probably false anyway...

    Cheers!

Your website is probably a special one just for Californians. You know they have to be different out there. I hear there's also a special one for (1) Texans (the reason there should be OBVIOUS) and (2) Australians (because they have like 7 words that mean peach and teal - none of which the rest of the English-speaking world can understand when they enunciate them).

PS - y'all KNOW I'm only kidding (maybe...)

    Hey guys,

Word on the street is that before you BUY a bracelet, thinking you are supporting a specific cause, check it out - there are many vendors just making a buck and not giving ANY to the cause! So typical.

I did some volunteer work for the Colon Cancer Alliance during the Sweet Sixteen college basketball tournament. Yep, it is dark blue and several coaches wore the bracelet during the game to honor Norm Stewart (former BB coach from Missouri - my alma mater)who was diagnosed with CC a few years back.

Sponger, you should have been on the committee choosing the bracelet colors! Ha! White with brown stripe (is that a racing stripe?) would be more appropriate, but the Colon Cancer Allience people felt they needed to be polically correct (sensitive).

The amber and silver bracelets sound great! I'd buy one of those.

    Take care ya'll!

Can someone remind this chemo brain what color amber is? I like the white with the brown stain idea the most but will do what the rest of my semi-colon buds do.

    Hi there, Lisa!
The cool thng about Amber, the stone, is that it runs from yellowish to through shades that are orangish in to burnt Sienna color - or dark rust. The stones are usually tumbled - not facetted - like, say a smokey topaz - another choice for the bracelets. I am thinking of stones which are in the brown tones - but with varitation. I think ithat it could be neat. I've seen women wearing the breast cancer bracelet - silver with a variety of pink beads (my description does not do it justice), but it is nice - more importantly, the women feel proud to display it. Long-winded explanantion of a color. I think of it as a rust-ish color. As for the stone....I'm going to google it...it is petrified "something". I've just been playing with the idea of something in addition to the rubber bracelets......I love art and design...so have been daydreaming about it.

    Cheers, Maura

Amber is kind of a burnt yellow orange. I think it has a lot of variations.

I like the idea of white with a brown drip. that is totally disgusting. Can't we stick with the blue?

thanks for the laugh. it is getting a bit "off color" ha ha.

I love the idea of nice bracelets. I'd buy one. I tried my hand at making one with blue and clear crystals. Looks ok, but not enough that I'm in love with it.

    LOL..funny posts

I was a little suprised to find that our ribbon color though is actually BROWN!! You know the little ribbons people pin on their shirts like a broche. I came across a site that was selling them and our ribbon decals were BROWN!

    I think that is a little rude...lol

Brown is actually the old color. Obviously, that site isn't very cool and up to date, like we are. hehe.

Dark Blue is now the new color. Officially!! Not quite the same picture in the mind now. Brown, who the heck thought of that?

You know...I love you, Sponge....but...I've got too many picture swirling around in my head and I'm starting to get really anxious about it.

But, even though it would probably do me more harm than good, I would step in and take the picture of you...if you really needed it done. :)

    Hey Maura,

I have some amber jewelry and it has fossils in it. It does range in color from light yellow to dark orange, rust - but good amber has bits and pieces of fossil and other "old" stuff.

Mexico was great. Seven days was a bit too long. Believe it or not I got pretty tired of margaritas.......... I've recovered though. Thanks for asking.
