Keep the prayers coming for Jerri. She has decided to stop the chemo. Since her PET scan came back clear a couple weeks ago, she has been seriously considering going the "Emily" route...and who else recently made that call, was it you Kerry??

Jerri talked to her Dr and decided to stop the chemo, feeling the risks outweighed the benefit at this point, since there has been no visible evidence of cancer. The Dr was supportive, and only cautioned Jerri to not look back and second guess her decision if there are complications later. We all know that there could be a recurrence at ANY time, regardless of the methods of treatment.

I hope all of you are doing well...I really have a whole new respect for those of you who have met this disease face to face. And then to take it a step farther and reach out to support others...there's no way for someone like me to express the gratitude that you all deserve.

God bless all of you.

Jimmy

    Hi Jimmy,

It's good to hear from you and to hear about Jerri. I was thinking of you both not long ago. Actually, it is Scouty that has stopped her chemo and is implementing a successful alternative approach. I'm sure you will be hearing from her soon.

I'm glad that Jerri's PET came back clear and pray things stay that way. Keep us abreast of her progress.

    Hi Jimmy,

Kay is correct - Scouty stopped her treatment with chemo and went with the "Emily" route! She seems to be doing great! I had a recurrance and went back on chemo with good results and clear scans as of 2 days ago.

I am thrilled to hear that Jerri had a clear scan. I wish you both well during her battle with this disease.

Keep us informed how she is doing.

I received only 4 out of 12 postop chemo treatments and it made me very sick. Both my oncologist and my oncology surgeon suggested that I stopped chemo. My surgeon said, "If I were you I would stop chemo and not look back." I responded with, what if my cancer comes back. He said you have to think that you made the best decision at the time. That was why he said don't look back. I am having a CAT scan on Wed. It has been almost 2 years since my surgery and I am currently NED.

I will pray for Jerri that her cancer doesn't return.

CHEERS to you and all the caregivers out there, I know that I could not have done this without the wonderful support of my husband and children.

Hey Em!!! You're a star, we all call the natural way, the "Emily route". What a compliment!!!

Jimmy, Ive been thinking about you and Jerri lately too. I am so excited for her PET results. I would be happy to share what I have been doing since I stopped chemo last November. Just let me know your home email address and I will send you my protocol. It's an attachment and I can't do that on the CSN email. You can send me your address on the CSN email site if you like.

Congrats and I will tip my fresh juice to you both this morning.

    AWESOME!!!!

You listen to scouty there. She is doing a great job!!

Congrats to Jerri for the clear scan. That is very very happy news. WooHoo!!

I can send you my protocol too if Jerri is interested. My printer is on the blink but I had Arthur xerox some off to send. I use a mac and often the attachments don't translate.

Ultimately Jerri has to decide what feels right for her, but scouty and I can at least share our researched results. :-)

There is a wonderful article in the May issue of Alternative Medicine Magazine regarding being cautious of bogus claims in the alternative field as well as a report on some studies done with SUCCESSFUL supplements. That info I will put in another thread so check it out.

Again, Jimmy and Jerri, I am SOOOOO happy for you both and celebrate along with you. I also understand the point of never looking back and second-guessing my choice. But for me there are many things that I will never worry about--ever:
    secondary cancers
    neuropathy
    kidney damage
    heart damage
    forced menopause

We all have to go sometime......but until then I have so much life and vitality -- more so than before my dx!

peace, emily who may start training for her first 5k run

To the CSN Guy: this post makes me wonder if an Alternative forum is needed; a place for folks who are taking the path less traveled...? Nanuk

    hey bud,

I asked a long time ago but to no avail. Maybe now that there seems to be more interest at least on the colon forum. Who knows what's going on in the other ones.....

I personally think it's needed, but there may be "politics" involved (?).

peace, emily who will sing it from the rooftops!

Jerri, congratulations on your PET scan. I wish you all the best in your new course of action. As for Nanuk's message to the CSN guy, I would HATE to lose Emily, Scouty and Jerri & Jimmy's voices on this site. The alternative path is such an important part of everyone's knowledge base here!

I can only speak for myself but think my words will reflect what the rest of us "alternative weird ****" (Isn't that cute for our bootie situation!!!!!) think, I/we will never leave this board and stop posting to those of you that we have gotten to know, love and respect so much.

Politics do get in the way in more ways then any of us really understand. I think another name for the new site could be OPTIONS.

One day very soon, our US Medical Regime will learn that it is not about treating a symptom (tumors) but it is all about wellness and healing for the individual patient. And that comes from inside one's body, at a cellular level. You have to reverse the comfort zone that the bastards seem to like to live in.

I am growing tired of hearing and reading about a cure when I know that there is a 90% prevention rate for our cancer. I would not wish what I have gone thru on anyone. Sometimes I wonder if doctors really want me to get well or are they more interested in their stats. All I heard was this drug will keep you alive 6 more months, etc, etc. No one ever talked to me about quality versus quantity which is now very important to me personally. It has taken me quite some time to put that all in perspective in my own mind (yeah it's still cloudy after 8 months of chemo, but at least I have one now that I have been off chemo for 5 months). But then again, there is no financial reward to a big, mean, corporate bully if our disease is prevented 90% of time. I hate being a pawn in their obnxious monopoly game.

Jose, get us an OPTIONS site so you can then make sure we stay clean and honest!!!! Only minimal cussing allowed.

I agree with you Scouty. Just a coupla of days ago a few of my friends discussed the issue of "cure" over here. One friend in the medical profession remarked, "why would a lot of md's specialists, pharmaceutical companies want to see a cure, when there is so much money to be made out of treating us cancer patients"
I really don't want to bemoan someof the excellent treatment I have had over here but I guess it still begs the question. A few years back our goverment spent thousands...literally thousands of $ just to erect a monstrous flagpole at our nations capital parliament house.
Just a very small example of wasting the taxpayers dollars while so many suffer.
Geeeeez---we can put a man on the moon for billions yet so many people are still suffering from an illness that has been around for centuries.
Sorry..I digress. Jimmy, supporting others is our greatest ammunition here mate. Knowing what others go thru is the key to be able to do just that. I include myself in your sentiments Jimmy and I know that Jen as a carer agrees with me...the gratitude can never be repaid. Everyone here have benefitted from each other.......and thats the way it should be....partners in battle!
    Our best to Jerri mate,
luv n huggs, kanga n Jen
