cancer in the abdominal lymph nodes

My dear friend was diagnosed with cervical cancer 1 1/2 years ago. After researching chemo and radiation she decided to go the alternative route while being monitored by the top cancer hospital in Canada. She was cured of the cervical cancer. The MRIs and test showed that the cancer was not evident. She had an MRI done recently and now it has been discovered the cancer is in her abdominal lymph nodes. I am trying to come to terms with all of this and am wondering if any others have gone through or know of anyone that had the cancer spread to the abdominal area. The doctors will not operate to remove it. They want her to go through the treatments which she is so against. I am scared for her and want to be there in anyway I can. Please share your experience.
Thank you
David

    Hi nerm59,
I am sorry to read about your friend. Why is she so against the treatment? I had vaginal cancer. I had one positive lymph node in my vaginal area. Although the Doc was sure he had gotten all the cancer surgically, I had pelvic radiation to "mop up" any stray cells that may have been lingering.
I am not going to tell you the treatments were a breeze, but they were well worth it. My Doc considers me to be in complete remission. He does not use the word cured. I am surprised your friend was told she was cured of the cervical cancer.
Anyway, all you can do is be there for your friend. She has to do what feels right for her. But I personally am glad that I had the radiation treatment.
I wish you and your friend all the best.
