I need to talk so very much about the neglect of his care.

Sorry to hear about your brother.
My dad died of pancreatic cancer 10/24/98. I am a breast cancer survivor.
I can listen and may not have any answers at all.
You can email me from this CSN site.
    Take care.

my brother died on oct. 19th 2003. He had his treatments at Sloan Kettering NYC. He had a horrible, painful death, was in a trial and a tumor not a human. No real care. I am a cancer patient and know what good care is from medical to emotional care. They go hand and hand. Do you or any know of Dr. Gary Schwartz at Sloan? I would love to hear from them. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me!

I don't know this Gary Schwartz. I am not from that area.
My dad could have also had some better care especially on the emotional side of things. It still upsets me thinking of it. Medical care was good. He could not have surgery. The chemo was pretty hard on him. He would have to go in for IV for platelets. He would begin bleeding-blood would not clot.
    I am in Minnesota.
The back up doctor was the worst.
It is a painful disease. Dad had pain and would take pain meds, and use a patch.

    How old was your brother?

    take care

    Hi Woddy!
I tried to get in on trials at Sloan Kettering but was rejected over the phone. I was so upset that I couldn't get in. Guess I was lucky. What happened?

    Yeah, Woddy!

    What did happen??

Johns Hopkins has a web site and may have a discussion board that you could also pose your question.

PanCan.org is a pancreatic cancer support program and may help you with what you are searching for.
You surely could email them and discuss the situation. PanCan has a lot of information, resources and you can get the newsletter for free.

thank you for your reply! I also had breast cancer.I need to know anyone that was treated at Sloan Kettering by Dr. Gary Schwartz. I will feel better if he is brought up on ethical charges. Many patients with no experience in cancer care and trials must be very careful of research DR.s who should not be involved with patients AND families.I wish every patient and family had more guidence with outside cancer networks. It is a long painful story.

Family and brother was never allowed to speak with Schwartz, only on Tuesdays when he had chemo.Only research nurse. In my experience never heard of this!!! Other patients who see him must not go through this.

thank you for replying to my message. My brothercould not have the wipple, he had bile by-pass.Radiation team was wonderful. He then went into a trial with Dr. Gary Schwartz at the helm.My brother was treat as Schwartz's tumor.as a cancer pt. myself we know treatment must be mind and body. It goes hand and hand. My brother and had NO contact with dr. except on tues. chemo day. There was no contact even the weekend he was dieing. He died at a different hospital, oncologist tried to get in touch with schwartz. called him, e-mailed him and his partner to no avail. schwartz never called my sister-law after he died, only his research nurse. As I am walking down the hall to visit my brother I hear him screaming " HELP ME HELP ME" the pain was so bad.I later found out he could have had a nerve block for the pain reading about pancreatic cancer in a medical journal. Sloan, NYC. is a hospital for tumor and non humans. My dog was treated better. Happy to know you did not go there. I also found out they do not share there their trials with other hospitals nor do they disclose their finances. DR. lied to us. there is much more.I want him brought to the board of ethics and have no contacts with pt.s

    Wow, Woody,

I'm getting red in the face from anger and I wasn't even there. You must be livid.

Was your bother from NY or did he have to travel there to get this treatment? Where was his oncologist from and where did he get the radiation?

I hope that you have contacted a lawyer or is that why you ae looking for other victims of this Schwarts character. I would like to see this guy on the red carpet.

What were the hospital nurses doing as he cried out in pain?

By the way, I had the whipple in Cincinnati.

Hi punkymay, thank you for responding. My brother was from N.J. traveled to Sloan NYC by train for radiation than chemo.Radiation team was wonderful.Oncologist is from Sloan Kettering also.He died in a different hospital. The dr. and nurses were trying so very hard to get in touch with Schwartz but he never called back or answered the e-mails that were sent to him. When my sister-in-law called Schwartz after my brother died to speake with him as she had many questions he NEVER returned her call.MY brother was in his trial and was is lab rat,his experiment.
I was very to read you had the wipple and hope you are doing well! If you hear of anyone who was treated at Sloan by Schwartz I would so appreciate it if you could contact me.
    Again thank you for caring.
