Have any of you heard anything about dandelion root or dandelion tea being good for cleansing the liver after chemo? I was in Barnes and Noble and picked up a book on cancer and another one on the fat flush plan and they both said something about it being good to cleanse the liver of the toxic effects of chemo. Hey at this point I'd try anything, if any of you have heard of this or used it I'd like to hear about it. I went to my Healing touch appointment and the R.N. practitioner told me that my liver is still"hot". Thanks ahead of time!

    Hi Lynne:

Dandelion root tea is touted to have many cleansing properties and is also said to be good for many, many ailments. Even breast tumors. Be careful though as some of these teas also contain niacin, many B vitamins, biotin (most of us don't need additional biotin unless we're trying to address particular deficiencies) calcium, sulphur magnesium, etc.. Niacin causes flushing in many people. My system doesn't tolerate it well at all. (the alternative for those people is niacinamide, which gives the same benefit but without the flusing. Experiencing the niacin flush for the first time, one could become alarmed and think something major is happening) Most labels on Dandelion Root Tea state that it can also CAUSE gastric disturbances and should not be taken by people with gallstones, etc.. I don't use it and cannot attest to any of it's claims one way or the other. I'd suggest that you research it and understand as much as possible about it and any potential interactions with anything else you may be taking, before giving it a go. Different manufacturer's may offer different formulations.

It seems that many of the medicinal teas can cause anything from frequent urination to diarrhea, so one typically needs to common sensically begin with small amounts and increase to a tolerable level. Also, some teas are naturally diuretic and some claim to have very good anti oxidant benefits...especially green teas and black teas, which I use daily.

    Wishing you good luck.

    Love, light and laughter,
    Ink

Lynne, try the above website. Dandelion is there.
Happy hunting. I've spent hours looking everything under the sun up on this site.
    Hugs,
