Just a little hello

My dear friends,
I haven't posted on the site in a while, but I have been reading your notes. They continue to uplift and encourage me. I am doing well. Finished chemo and radiation. I have lots of aches and pains that I didn't have before, but it's endurable. I just wanted to share a funny thing. I am a middle school teacher and this week was school spirit week. Today was crazy hair day. I have a nice head of short hair again...incredibly curly (I always had straight hair and envied all those who had the natural curls, so I am pleased as punch!) Anyway, I chose to wear a silly wig that I bought for my chemo days. Much to my dismay, it was so much easier to wear when I was bald! I got a good chuckle at having to struggle to get the wig on. It was a long red haired one...I'm a short curly salt and pepper now. Anyway, I just wanted to let all of you know that I am able to laugh at so much again and it feels so good. God has blessed me greatly. Both of my children are getting married, so that is what is occupying my time when I'm not working. I am so happy that I am able to be at their weddings and I plan to be around to see many grandchildren! I guess I just wanted to tell all the new ladies that things do get better. The road has been really rough a long the way (and much rougher for so many others) but the journey has brought me so much...new friends, new priorities, and a deeper trust and relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hang in there! There is hope and peace inspite of cancer. You continue to be in my prayers.

    Wow you are one busy woman with all the weddings going on in your home. It is nice to hear that you are doing well after all the treatments complete, sorry for the aches and pains. Thanks for sharing your story and letting us know how you are coping with you all you have to get through. I think it does us all good to be reminded of how much more life there is left to live.

    I am a 52 years old woman from Puerto Rico. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2000. I had 4 chemo treatments, 36 radiotherapies and another 4 of chemo. I finished my last chemo on July 11 2001.

    I am writing because I, like you, had my hair straight and now is growing very curly, but I have noticed that is growing very very slow. Since last December I have not wear my wig, I was 1 year wearing it.

    My cancer, like yours, has deepen my relationship with God, I am a better person now thanks to my cancer.

    I am still working and although I don't have children, my husband has been very supportive, i don't knw how I could manage this cancer without his help.

    Hi Jayne,

    I'm so glad to hear from you. I have been wondering how you have been doing. You are in my prayers daily. Thank you for the update and the slice of humor. We all need to laugh at ourselves from time to time. I hope the doctors can give you some relief from the aches and pains. Enjoy the weddings and dance for all of us.

    Amen, Jayne!!! I am fairly new to the site, fairly new as a survivor...diagnosed in August. I didn't have to have chemo, but still dealt with a lot of issues. I thank God for every tamoxifen hot flash, because it means I'm alive to feel them! I'm so glad you're doing well. We must remember what my grandma told me when I was diagnosed....God will never lead you TO anything that He will not take you THROUGH!It's very encouraging to me to hear that someone that has been through all you have can be so upbeat. Best wishes for some lovely weddings, and some day, wonderful grandchildren!
