Since I just replied to the port message, I thought maybe I should introduce myself. I've been reading this board for a couple of weeks. The beginning of Feb. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node dissection because the sentinel node was positive. All others were negative. This was followed by a staph infection in my lymph node incision which was re-opened, drained(OUCH!) and allowed to close on it's own. I finally got around to starting AC and just finished my second round. I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you here and have already appreciated the support I feel just from reading the board. FC

Welcome. I've been here since 7/01. I was just finished my treatment ... I wish I had found it earlier because all the ladies are so helpful. Isn't AC great? How are you managing? Are you taking anything after the AC? Take care. Jamie

We are always glad to have newbies just unfortunate what this sisterhood is based on is all. I too had a staph infection that raged into blood infection rearing its ugly head on #2 chemo. It too was the result of surgery, my first mastectomy on the cancerous side, not fun at all. I found myself so ill very quickly that directly went to blood in matter of hours. I was in icu for 8 days and that was the beginning of Neuprogen shots. At that time they didn't even know the dosaze needed for somebody. Here we stop taking the shots once the bone pain starts, my case only after a couple of shots. I was convulsing seriously after 2 days of taking the shot like I was being electricuted or something.
I am sure like me, you too have found comfort in knowing there are so many others who can relate to what I am going through. Relate we can often been there done that.
Look forward to getting to know you better as well. Hang in there and we will keep you close to our hearts.
    Be good to yourself,

Hi FC! Just a note to welcome you to the group. I can't help with chemo questions, because I didn't have to have it, but I will certainly give all the support I can. I wish you well with your tx and please keep us informed on how you are doing! Cyndi

    FC,

Welcome! These are a great bunch of women. I found the site in June 2001, after I quit working. Too bad I didn't know about it when I went through my two bouts with BC, but I am here now. It is such an inspiration to read all the stories and I have made some very strong friendships here that I wouldn't trade for the world. Make sure you read some of the personal web pages. That really gives you an idea to whom you are writing. Just click on their name if they have responded here and it will take you right to their web page. And set up your own web page too. We are all here for each other.

    God Bless,
    Kathy

Hi FC!! I just found this group also. It is the BEST thing I have done since my dx. I was dx in Jan 98 when I was 29 years old. 12 rounds AC-5FU and 36 rads. Had the infections, the neupogen shots, everything. It was tough, but I made it! I hope your treatments go well and please know you are in my prayers. My email is ludasuesnout@yahoo.com if you ever want to chat. Best wishes and let us know how you are doing. Angie

Thanks so much for all the welcomes! My 1st AC treatment went smoothly as far as side effects, but the one last week left me with terrible nausea on day 3,4,&5. My onc says we'll continue decadron afterwards next time with the Zofran since that seems to be what's helping on days 1 &2. Right now, I have a wonderful case of thrush on my tongue and in my esophagus, but it's getting better with meds, and I feel good, not too tired yet. FC

    FC,
I am pretty new to this board also. I had lumpectomy December 2000 w/sentinel node biopsy as well, mine was negative, had 4 rounds of AC followed by 6 weeks radiation. I am feeling wonderful, can't believe its been almost a year since I finished up my treatments. Life does return to normal. THis is a great site, I go on practically every night, I wish I had found it sooner ... god bless. Carol

Hello, just wanted to welcome you to the site. This site has been wonderful . I was so glad I found it. I was diagnosed in June 2001 and finished my last chemo in October. Just had my first phrase of reconstruction which I was terified ,but thanks to this site I found some relief in knowing it would be ok and its ok to be scared. Keep us posted on your chemo treatments. Best of Luck. Karin
