My husband has non-hodgkins lymphoma B-Cell. We have been fighting the cancer for a year now. He is currently having a stem cell transplant which will hopefully put him in remission. I have never heard of any one just watching cancer grow. Usually they want to get it as soon as possible. I'm not trying to scare you even more but maybe you should get a second opinion. You shouldn't be scared once you leave the Drs. You should feel a little better. I'm here if you want to talk more. Ange

Hi. I am not familiar with this type of "indolent" cancer but I did have Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I see that it has been about a month and a half since you wrote your message. Any new info medically speaking? Do they really feel it's stable? How are you feeling? Would you consider a 2nd opinion? Write me if you'd like to talk more about it.

Hi. I was diagnosed with NHL, intermediate growing, 4 years ago. I have been in remission almost 3 years and have a 5-year old daughter. I am now 35. It is rare (seems to me) to come across a mom diagnosed with this. I hope you are well. I know how hard it is and if you ever have questions or want to talk with another mom who went through chemo, please email me at PEPridham@aol.com. God bless! Patti Pridham

I was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkins Lymphona(slow growing type). However since mine was so advanced and wide spread I had 8 months of chemotherapy. I have been in remission since my last treatment in Dec. 1997. I understand you anxiety about just watching it. I know in some ways it was a relief to have the chemo because I felt that I was doing something about it. However, I know you want to wait on treatment as long as possible since time between treatments becomes less and less until it no longer responds to treatment. Also, it seems as if each day they are making strides toward better and better treatments. I know you are scared, I am too! Hang in there.

When I was diagnosed with NHL, my case was presented at a tumor board-
a group of doctors sitting around discussing cases, and giving opinions. One doctor suggested just watching it, another said chemo and radiation, and still another advised to start with just radiation. I did just radiation; but if I were you, I'd question your doctor why he feels watching it is the best option. I would also get a second opinion, or even a third if the first two don't agree.
