Ok..I had the surgery on Friday. I havent seen the results. Too many bandages. However the doctor said he had trouble reconstructing the right side because of lack of adequate skin stretching. He can fix it later. Im feeling no pain in the breast area..but the area where the skin was grafted is on FIRE. WOW WOW..
Thank You for your prayers. I will see the unfolded new breasts on Sat.
Wish me luck
Sandy

    Sandy,
Glad to hear that you had your reconstruction done. I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. I will be having breast reconstruction done at the end of the year. Can a surgeon hide your mastectomy scars or are these something that you will have forever? Did you have implants or the TRAM flap done? Any advice on the situation would greatly be appreciated. THanks so much and I wish you the best. Good luck on Saturday! God Bless you each and every day! Carrie

    You go Sandy,
Glad to hear your procedure went well for you, hope you are happy with the results. Hang in there girl will be uncomfortable for a few days and then you will be on the mend.
    Be good to yourself,

    Hi there,
The scars are there but faint. They disappear in time. I opted to have implants. Im glad I had it done.
    Good Luck to you.

I just joined this group and have had the tram flap reconstruction. I am not sure you are referring to the same type of recontruction. I can empathize with you about a feeling of fire at the site. I will pray for your speedy recovery. I am personally struggling with going on with my life and returning back to work.

    Sandy -
Congratulations on your reconstruction! By this time you have probably seen the nipples...what do you think? I will be having the same surgery in October and have lots of questions. Is it real painful?? How long did the doc recommend that you be off work? My PS will be taking the skin from my bikini line. Concerned about being able to dress in my "conservative banking attire" after surgery! Any feedback will help. You are in my prayers.

Hi Mel and Sandy! I had a nipple recon. in Feb then a revision in June. The nipple was made from within my breast so I didn't have any pain at all(I'm totally numb there) The first nipple was very large so he went in and made it smaller. It's still bigger than the other side but he insists it will shrink. I had the tatoo a few weeks ago and that was easy and painless. Needs a bit of touchup but this stuff is easy compaired to the reconstruction(which I didn't really have any problems with) E-mail me if you have any questions. Good luck! Cathy

The nipples are fine. They grafted the skin from my inner thigh. That is the painful part of the surgery. The inner thigh close to the pubic area is the source of my grief. The stitches burst open..the area sweats alot and healing is slow.
However...the new nipples are worth it.
