For all of you who shared with me your experience with Taxol, I wanted you to know I had my first experience with it last Fri., July 13. I had 2 previous treatments with Adriamycin/Cytoxan and wasn't doing well with it (it was tearing up my GI tract, bringing my blood counts perilously low and making me feel generally poisoned). My doctor suggested that I finish out my treatments with Taxol which she thought would be equally as effective, and I'm happy to report that I feel unbelievably better on the Taxol. I have been able to tolerate it (no allergic reaction to it which happens to 5%), and that it has given me no nausea or GI upset! Another benefit of Taxol is that it doesn't cause cardiomyopathy and isn't as hard on the WBC's. The main side effect has been tiredness, and some aches and pains in legs, hips, feet and hands which are controllable with Celebrex (an anti-inflammatory used in the treatment of arthritis). I am now so encouraged that I'll be able to finish the chemo (my last treatment is on Aug. 3). So it pays to "know and choose your poisons." If any of you are having an exceptionally hard time tolerating a chemo regimen, talk to your doctor about it. There may be something that will work better for you. Thanks for all of your support. - Gay

    Dear Gay:
I am so glad to hear you are tolerating Taxol. It did not bother my stomach either.
The pain in bones gets better after about 5 days.
    God bless you, Brenda

I am glad that you are doing so well with the taxol. I will be starting weekly taxol treatments in August along with herceptin. I will finish my Adrimycan and Cytoxan treatments tomorrow. Now I just have 12 treatments of Taxol and herceptin and then 40 treatments of herceptin. It's great to hear that you are doing so well. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery. Carrie
