Colouring Hair

We habe been told that it is not wise to put a rinse or any hair dye in your hair untill at least 6 months to a year after treatment. Anyone have any info on this

    I was told that as long as the color was a temporary one (i.e., Loving Care, etc.) it was safe - however permanent hair colorings should be avoided for the short term.

    Bye the sounds of things they don't want you to put in your hair period. Quite frankly I am sick of reading what we are suppose to do and not to do. I let my hair really get established and didn't like what I was left with. I now had my dad's hair like wire. I colour not because blondes have more fun and it softens it. If we quit doing lots of things because what they said we probably wouldn't be living.

    I was reading on another website that the chemicals in hair dye are extremely carcinegous and go right thru your skin and directly into your blood stream, according to this scientist,hair colorists have a higher incidence of cancer for this very reason,because they have their hands in this dye all the time. I thought I bookmarked this but I can't find it......lindy

    going to the search engine, I see that there are just as many studies saying hair dye doesn't increase risk of cancer as studies that say it does??? doesn't that just figure!
    so it's left up to us to decide......

    As I'am a hairdresser for 26 years who knows if thAT IS WHY I NOW HAVE CANCER. ALL THE CONTINUING CLASSES I HAVE HAD NO ONE SEEMED TO DISCUSS THIS. AT ONE TIME CERTAIN RED DYES WERE POSSIBLE SO THEY CHANGED THE ING. IN THE 70'S. IF MY HAIR KEEPS THE SHADE I NOW HAVE I TOO WILL HIGHLIGHT BLONDE AS THAT IS ME NOT THIS LIGHT BROWN. SHARON

    Thanks everyone for your messages. I am delighted with my new hair. It is snow white and looks like I have crimped it. I don't need to dye it but my friend is not happy with hers. It has come back with splodges of white and black.
