diep flap recon,heard of it?

Hi all, Tiger here, has anyone ever heard of the "diep flap" method of recon? from what I have read they take the extra fat and skin from your belly and move it upwards to construct new boobs. Apparently it is less invasive,less painful, and less recovery time than a "tram flap" But if you have a flat belly it wont work,obviously, I am going to ask my dr about it, i have Lots of belly so hopefully it will work for me.

    Dear Tiger

    I had a friend who had the diep flap reconstruct. She was plesaed with it until she developed a pseudomysis(fungal) infection in the op site & then it all went wrong & she ended up with a mess. She was only the 5th person in NZ to have it but I beleive it is much better now. Unfortunately friend died of her cancer in June this year.
    I had to be hospitalized last night for severe pain - turned out to be caused by a collapsing vertebrae which pinched a nerve. Excrutiating but over the worst now & sent home again this morning. Don't want to expereince that pain again in a while.Keep saving. At least the US$ to NZ$ is very favorable for travellers from US & Canada at the moment. Not so good for us for our trip to UK & Canada in August next year. Love & hugs.

    Hi Pam. So sorry to hear about your friend and your hospitalization. Back pain is indescribable. I have two bulging discs in my lower back and have had two steroid-pain killer injections. They work for a while, a blessed while. I had my knee operated on this a.m. for a torn cartilage, medial meniscus. The pain I had from that was worse than my back pain had been. I couldn't walk. I was to the point that my leg could be amputated and I would not have cared. But it was taken care of at 7:30 this morning and I was home by noon. Still hurts a little but nothing compared to before the surgery. I do hope things get better in NZ. I have (had) a friend in New Zealand, he worked in one of the hospitals in Christchurch. His name is Ian Wilkinson. I lost contact with him several years ago, but would love to hear from him again. You guys are absolutely amazing with your accent, you sense of humor and your love of life. He was working his way literally around the world and stopped off in Houston and worked as a lab tech in our infectious disease lab. Stayed for two years and then had to return to NZ. Looking forward to seeing you next year. Jane

    Sorry to hear you too were hospitalized, but glad you were home as quickly as I was. Am still in some pain but I can cope now. The problem is I refuse to have morphine on a regular basis and try to work through the pain but Friday was just too bad & I was screaming. I feel that if I use morphine regularly now I won't really get the benefit when the pain becomes too bad. I have my coping mechanisms usually like surfing the net or watching a gripping movie or just pacing the house in the dark but this time they did not work. I will try to locate your friend for you through the white pages but it's a fairly common name here. Yes of course we are amazing people. With such a small population base we have had to learn how to do things differently. Also we get mad when we are confused with Australians. I have a saying - I support two rugby teams - The All Blacks (NZ) & anyone playing Australia. Hope you are soon fully mobile. Love & hugs
