    Congrats CMB! I'll celebrate my check up with you as well. Had mine a couple of weeks ago and all is well. My GYN said this is a big deal - 5 years. She also said I'm not out of the woods but this is a big deal. She also was debating on having me get a CT scan since it has been 5 years. She decided to check my CA125 and if it is still normal, we will skip the scan for now. I am now officially on a yearly check up! She gave me the option of staying with her or moving on to a regular GYN. Of course I'm staying! My doctor is wonderful.

    Cindi - the five year mark IS a big deal, so to reach this point is definitely cause for celebration. Thanks for sharing this news. And many thanks, also, for your continued contributions to this board. Understandably, some members drift away once their cancer experience recedes further into the past. So we especially appreciate women like you who stay engaged with us here after their own period of treatment has ended.

    Had my 2nd moderna shot yesterday

    Am a little tired, a bit achy but that just a good excuse to curl up with my library book, CASTE by Isabel Wilkerson. It took nearly 3 months to get from the library.  I wish I had bought it so I could highlight it and write notes in the margins. I used to think that was an awful thing to do but there are so many things I'd like to reread. I mark up cookbooks now too.

    Shot good news

    Connie, glad to hear that you've completed the vaccination process. I'm sure it's a big relief. My hospital system just sent me an email and now I'm set for my first shot on Friday. The only upside to having diabetes is getting in line earlier, I guess.

    I have to admit that I've switched more to ebooks in recent years - they're easier for me to read now with aging eyes. I'm not in the habit of making notes in most books, although the Kindle app does allow for that. However, my cookbooks are full of post it notes.

    Enjoy the read.

    moderna 2nd shot

    I got my 2nd moderna shot just before the big freeze hit Texas. I had a fever and a headache for about 30 hours and then it went away! I'm going to go see my sister in Florida next month and I am so excited.

    Some good news

    I was thinking how I enjoy reading these discussions and thought I should share some good news too.  I have received both of my vaccine shots (Pfizer) and had little reaction.  Mostly a sore arm which resolved in a day.  I am very happy about that.  It is very freeing.  I also had my quarterly check-up on Wednesday and everything was fine.  My CA125 is still low (6.2) which is what I worry about the most.  It has been reliable for me since I was first diagnosed.  It has been almost a year since I completed treatment so I am early celebrating one year NED.  I remain grateful to all of you who post on all the various threads.  It has brought me information I did not have and reassurance when I needed it.  Thanks to all of you.

    Very good news indeed!

    So happy for you, Maxster. I've had both doses of the Pfizer too, with almost no reaction -- just felt a bit under the weather for a few hours the next day.

    Maxster - your news calls for a double celebration! First, for getting both of your vaccinations and second, for the good news on your latest checkup. Hope you can do something fun.

    I've always found it interesting that some of us can use the CA125 as a predictable marker for cancer while others can't. Mine has always been in the normal range, although it did drop a bit after treatment. My doctor still checks it every couple of years, but it only varies by a point each time.

    Two years ago yesterday, I

    Two years ago yesterday, I completed my 6th chemo and 38th radiation treatments. So far so good.  It was a good day. Dx was UPSC, stage1a.  Still have some neuropathy in my feet, but hey, if thats the worst I am left with I'm ok with it.

    Congrats Maxter and Quilter on your milestones. Every day is a gift! Congrats also to those that have gotten their vaccine.  I'm still waiting to be eligible. My husband got his and it is such a feeling of freedom for him. I hate shots so I'm hoping to get Johnson but I'll take whatever is offered first! Hopefully in the next couple of months.

    Hi Cindi,  we finished with our vaccines, Pfizer.  We had 2 shots, pretty painless.  Neither one of us had anything more than a slightly sore arm, no worse than with a flu shot.

    Finally have some good news!

    When this thread first came up, I had just lost my mother-in-law and then my sister-in-law. My SIL and I had been through 16 months of cancer treatment and she was such a help to me; it was covid that took her. I was just too grieved to find any good news. I still miss her, but she is still an inspiration for me to keep on fighting.

    My good news came after a long talk with my oncologist before chemo yesterday. My cancer marker continues to be in the normal zone, labs good, just slightly anemic and kidney function is better.

    Last year the treatment and cancer had caused my prognosis to be a year or less. Now my oncologist says I am living with cancer and not actively dying. She says this is very unusual to see with my type of cancer. I really believe prayers have made the difference! 
    All the good news I'm reading is so awesome! Love this group!

    Donna, that is such great news! I'm so happy for you. Living with cancer is so much better than what you previously thought. Thanks for posting. Your journey is similar to my journey right now and I've been feeling a bit down. You've given me hope!

    Great to hear this news.   "Not activeley dying" I have never heard that statement before.  Sealed   And so sorry to read about your MIL and SIL.  So much to deal with, but life can be like that.  This is a great thread.

    My good news is that my teacher daughter, whom I haven't seen in a year, was vaccinated today.  Her state governor was unwilling to give any priority to educators so thank you to the president for doing so.

    I also have UPSC mine was stage 2 I completed brachytherapy 11/2020, and chemo Feb 3, 2021. Had my followup labs and CTs Feb 25, all clear, hope I am as lucky as you. Any tips regarding diet, supplements or exercise?
