Recovery 2nd liver surgery

Hello,

My dad is already home from his 2nd liver surgery. They got it out, it was 3,5cm big and I have the high suspicion that it was there at the beginning but not visible on CT and MRI or USG. I dont know what the doctors suspect. But they are careful. My dad said that he has a highly aggressive tumory maybe because it is stage 4 and kras mutated. So the doctors are surprised that only some cells were found in one lymph node, and that the lungs never showed anything. Papa can rest now and get better after the 2nd liver surgery which went better than the last for him.

After Easter, he will have CT and MRI. I dont know if they are just checking, if they put him under closer surveillance or if we are already under this stage of treatment meaning looking for recurrences. But the next weeks he will not have chemo. He can just focus to get better. I am in good spirits that they now finally got everything out. But I also thought that 4 weeks ago and then PET showed something.

I hope that was now the last scare we had. I am praying hard that everything will be negative from now on. Yes stage 4 and KRAS are difficult to handle but my dad is not a study. So, I am hopibg for the best.

    Good news

I am happy to hear your dad is out of this second liver surgery, and doing well - as well as one can expect, at least.

I pray that he heals quickly, and that he can move forward and find himself NED.

    Thank you for the update.

Thanks Tru! He had some headache during the night and night sweats but that got better after the ibuprofen and coffee. The headache is quite common for him.

For now I am just happy about every step that is done successfully. If we do get NED, I dont know. I do hope so but for now he can focus on healing. There are things that make me hopeful for NED, others just scare me. At the end we can just wait and I hope that each day will get better than the one before.

    Praying for you too!

Glad your dad is doing well and not bad.... that was a lame rhyme but I'm leaving it in because the sentiment is true! The ups and downs of this are dizzying but I'm so happy your Dad is able to enjoy some peace for his recovery at the moment. Thank you for keeping us updated.

Thank you! The rhyme is okay, wouldnt do better anyway. I am grateful when he can just focus now on getting better. No chemo for now on his horizon. He should just relax and enjoy the weather.

I am as a daughter going through this for a year now. The worries stay, you are just handling them better... but I hope your dads recovery is going well too

    Yes

    Thank you Kim!

I hope that too. The surgeon found a hernia during the surgery. Fixed that too. But for now he can relax. It seems fine for now even though that we know it is cancer. For now the stoma surgery is in 3 months. Then I believe after over a year things are normal again :)
