    Peace

Of course you are emotional about this request of your friend.  You must do what you are comfortable with doing.  Being present is not an obligation, nor is it your responsibility.   I couldnt participate, but thats just me.  I would choose to say my goodbyes and express my love and leave, the day before.  I think I would go to a church or some other beautiful peaceful place, at the designated time, and just pray for her.  Im sorry about your dear friend.  Take care of yourself.
