    Hi! I just had surgery three weeks ago to remove my MEC, high grade, tumor from my nose. Has anyone else heard of anyone on here who has/has had that location of this cancer? All the studies that I've read are at least 7 years old and older.

    Hi Charmin! I had MEC on the roof of my mouth, and had some of my hard palette removed, resulting in a fistula. I would imagine that the mucoepidermoid carcinoma spread from your minor salivary glands on the roof of your mouth to the nasal cavity? Are they recommending chemo/radiation? What's the plan? 

    We're a small group here but we've received plenty of support. This is a FANTASTIC group to share things with. I hadn't checked in for awhile now, and wanted to see how everyone was doing. Please feel free to post here and I'll be sure to check back.

    MEC in the nose

    Has anyone on here been through MEC in the nasal passage? I had Stage 3, high grade. I had surgery in Nov, 2019, that removed everything from my nose except the outer skin. In my 8 hours of surgery, I had skin from my scalp moved to be the lining and cartilage to rebuild the structure. He had to scrape off some of my hard palate on the top and got clear margins on 3 sides, but had to stop or I would have had to use a prosthetic nose. I went through 1/3 of my chemo/radiation, but got too sick to continue. I guess I should have had a feeding tube inserted, but chose to just stop.

    I have had precious, awesome support from family and friends, but being a widow, it was harder to choose to keep going on treatment without someone here with me all the time. So I am thankful for what I have.

    I haven't seen anyone else on here with MEC like mine. But I appreciate hearing about everyone's journeys and will continue praying for each of us.
