New Oncologist

I guess I am "attached" to you guys here, lol. I had an appointment with my family doctor here in the mountains after I got settled back in to update him and hopefully get him to monitor me so I wouldn't have to travel back to SC for scans, etc. He was wonderful and admitted that he would prefer me to be under the watch of an oncologist. His next door neighbor happened to be one and was also the doctor for the mother of the office nurse I had. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. I have an appointment to see him next Wednesday. When I was first diagnosed, I was not impressed with the centers I first came into contact with nor the oncologists. I got a call yesterday from the coordinator of a cancer support group associated with the oncologist I will see next Wednesday. She was warm, friendly and genuinely had an interest in directing me in the direction I wanted to go. She also informed me that the oncologist I will see will be a guest speaker at next month's support meeting. All of this just added to my thoughts of feeling like I made the right choice in returning to my beloved mountains. I am almost four months out from my surgery and feeling like "me" again. Just hoping and praying I stay in the clear and fall into the percentage without recurrance. Wishing each of you a beautiful and blessed day!!  Hugs, M

sounds Like you’ve hooked up with a great Oncologist. So happy to hear you’re feeling like “you” again.  That’s what I keep telling my friends - I can’t wait till I feel like me again. Based on your 4 months out & my late June surgery I’ve set my eyes on October.

    Great

So glad that you are feeling better and found someone you are happy with.  In life, you have to choose the path you want to live and you did that.

I initially liked me oncolgyst a lot. A make in his late 50s. Very knowledgable, great listening skills, doesn’t t seem to be rushed, sence of humor. I stopped liking him. Period. I want to be cured or in the wirst case scenario enter the long remission and he doesn’t t have anything for me. I saw 2 other oncolgysts that were recommended and one was a joke and another one is actually internationally recognized and is a big dog who was trained not only in the US but Europe and Australia. I also went to MD Anderson and all they have chemo for life until it stops working............

    Hoping..

My appointment is tomorrow and I am so hoping that I like him. I am feeling better than I have in a long time finally. Four months is about right. I still have twinges I guess from the nerves being cut but otherwise, I feel pretty "normal" again. Your big day is coming soon and I will be praying all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.  Remember...walk, walk, and walk some more..lol..Hugs, M
