Severe back pain —on chemo?

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Hello Crew, I developed severe upper back pain after the 3rd cycle of Folfiri of avastin. MRI is fine and I suspect it is related. They feel that my muscles can get very tighT, produce an occasional spam, enter a contraction but can deconstruct tgemselves. The pain can hit 8 and as soon as it goes above 6 or 7 Percocet is not doing much.i tried massage, chiropractor, accupancture, neurologist who prescribed metofren po pain and it is not doing much. 2 pills of magnesium per day, some vitamins b sometime.Seeing a pain management doctor on Monday. Any advise please how to fix this issues? Suspect will start talking about physical therapy

that is very hard for a person who is on chemo. Butt.

    Ew, that sounds horrible! I've never had that from chemo. I hope they get on top of that quickly!

    Lower back pain

    I had pretty bad lower back pain as well as multiple joint pains while on chemo.  None of the doctors said it was normal, but the description of the drug said it was common in, I can't quite recall exactly, about 20% of the people who took it.  Unfortunately, it took getting off chemo to get it to mostly resolve.  Boswellia might help, but sorry, otherwise I have no knowledge to offer.

    just a thought- if pain is in

    just a thought- if pain is in lower back on one side, it could be a kidney stone- I get lots of them- so very familiar with hte pain and spasms that go with them- battlign a very large one right now- if you have trouble urinating, or the pain moves from the back to front abdomen eventually, usually after many hours or days sometimes-- then it coudl very well be a stone- The pain from stones can and often does reach 8's and 9's on the scale-

    I don't know if it is, but it's a thought- if they aren't finding much- a CAT scan without contrast shoudl find it if it is a stone- Ultrasound might find it too-

    THe join pain! I am 53, walk around at times like someone 93. It is worse when I first get up from bed or chair.

    It is in upper back pain that is close to shoulders. They know it is a muscle Because they can feel spasms. It looks like it can suddeny contract itself but can t decontract. The doc believes it is a form of neuropathy and it definitely related to the chemo. They seems not able to find a Ned that can fix it. The muscle relaxer doesn’t  do it job. Electolites are fine. A magnesium level is fine. Ahh.... Chemotherapy.......

    Sounds nasty. Muscle spasms are very painful. I wonder what can be done, there's got to be something.
