Tooth Extraction Follow Up

I went for my 2 weeks follow up on Wed. April 3  to the oral surgeon since my tooth extraction. The good news is the doctor says it is healing as well as someone who has not had any radiation and I will not be needing any HBOT to follow up treatments. This is an extra blessing because it means I most likely will be OK with any future dental work or extractions as needed, not that I’m looking for any. He did comment when he pulled the tooth I had good blood flow in the area. He had also been discussing the situation with the HBOT doctor so there was good communication there.

Also for those on Medicare, I was told by the HBOT people that rules on it have changed. I don't know the details but she mentioned that you have to have the dental X-rays or scans showing bone deterioration to be approved and I don't know if it varies by state. Luckily I don't have to go through the approval process whatever it is. I'm just mentioning this as if you think you will need it to plan ahead and do some research.     The one thing my RO doc

    The one thing my RO doc pointed out before starting radiation Tx was that I DO NOT want to get a tooth infection because that would mean getting a bone graft.  Maybe I got radiation closer to my jaw than you did???  Or maybe this is another one of those individual things.  Either way, it sounds ike everything went your way!

    Two more years before I sign up for medicare, which sounds so weird because like most middle agers I still feel 20 on the inside.  Wink

    A blessing well deserved for you Russ, I guess it all depends on the type of radiation, amount, etc. Great news.

    Glad it went well for you and the update on medical coverage for HBOT.
