Just be ready to be a little "drunk " :) Also dry mouth, and sometimes some restless legs.

The Benedryl I got orally, the others thru IV.   Next time Benedryl thru IV.  Hope that solves the issue.

I usually had both. I took

I usually had both. I took Pepcid, Zyrtec, and Decadron orally (thw Decadron both the night before and in the morning), and then got Pepcid, Benadryl, and Decadron IV. Oddy enough I never really had any steroid side effects, which amazed me.

Did need some magnesium once, that hurt, but at least they gave the potassium orally (I didn't have a port).

I will be talking to my dr

I will be talking to my dr about this.  Not sure I can tolerate this pain Every time.

    It's pretty common with this

It's pretty common with this particular chemo regimen to wait to see if you need the Neulasta or Xarxio, I think the breast cancer gals are not as lucky in that regard. For example, my ANC dropped more and more with each cycle, and eventually got to 450. That crossed their threshold and prompted a call from the ER nurse to make sure I was fine (it was on the weekend), but I was, and I never had the Xarxio. The only time I got sick was influenza B 3 weeks after my last chemo, hard to say if that had anything to do with chemo or not.

I agree with cold and flu

I agree with cold and flu season nearly being over.  Guess that’s a positive to the timing of this adventure.   I have enough support that I don’t have to even leave the house.  But I will go crazy if I don’t get out.  I’m hoping to work when able but that’s yet to be seen.

    Just still be careful. Last

Just still be careful. Last year I got influenza (test proven) in the 3rd week of April and it was miserable. And I was vaccinated.  Flu season is definitely not over yet, especially for *you.*

    It's never over.  I've seen

It's never over.  I've seen people get influenza in June some years, and cold viruses and stomach viruses are present year-round.  We just have to ALWAYS be careful.  I don't shake hands at all.  I don't touch surfaces that other people touch - I'll use my shirt tail to open door knobs, or wear gloves (those stretchy fabric ones with the thumb and finger that work on screens are very useful).  And if I'm out in public and someone coughs or sneezes, I move as far away as I can.

    Hi Whizzer78

Glad you made it thru the first chemo session. Now you will have a better idea of what it will be like next time other than the reaction to Taxol. I too had that awful reaction to Taxol but mine happened during cycle 2. Not fun like you said! But they treated it and slowed the infusion and next cycle they upped the decadron and benadryl and no further reactions.

The neulasta I declined because of the side effect of bone pain. With my bone mets I already have enough pain so didn't want to compound the problem. Thankfully my ANC always came back to an acceptable level before the next chemo session.

Each day you will feel stronger and feel better and by week 3 almost back to normal. So all the best and keep us posted.

    Whizzer, if you're anything

Whizzer, if you're anything like I was, you're past the worst of the feeling sick after chemo now.  It only gets better now, and hopefully you'll be feeling pretty normal soon.  It was my experience that the first round was by far the worst in terms of nausea and body aches.  No subsequent round was as bad for me.
