    Anal stricture

I am now a year and a couple months post-radiaton and still have to deal with wearing panty liners.  It's really odd that I cannot eat any processed sugars anymore because that seems to cause more leakage and issues.  My rectal muscles are fine.  I was told when they do the digital exam that they can feel an anal stricture which if you can imagine is like a ring inside the anal canal that makes the canal go from I don't know say 1" down to 1/3".  It makes my stools come out like my butt is a playdough machine.  Narrow stools.  I go in for a routine colonoscopy next week and they will be opening it up more using some balloon technique.  Sounds painful but at least I will be asleep for that.  I am hoping this helps remedy the anal stricture.  My symtoms match an anal stricture exactly.

    • Pain when trying to have a bowel movement.
    • Need to strain to pass stool.
    • Constipation.
    • Bleeding after a bowel movement.
    • Thin stools.
    • Need to use laxatives, suppositories, or enemas to pass stool.
    • Diarrhea.
    • Stool leakage.

So I am hoping this will remedy a few of the issues.

I have them all the time.

I have them all the time. When I had my problems my bowels completley came out of my rectum during a operation so its either cause of that or a tumor or hemorrhoids that my doctors found recently. So it can be a problem and shoudl get it checked out.

    Me too

Finally found someone going through the same thing I am going through. I am 16 months out post treatment. I feel constipated most of the time. I did talk to my Doctors. Now on a high fiber diet with fiber tabs. Still having issues, thin stools, first is was bleeding from the strcture when I had a BM then I started taking a natural vegetable laxative, it was helping for awhile. Now back to thin poops. I had my CT scan last month, no caner. :)

All of this makes me nervous. Is this my new normel? ugh

    Me too. Finished last October

Me too. Finished last October, so 15 months post treatment. Most bowel movements are uncomfortable, cramping.  I don't want to take a laxative becuase they are already loose.  They just don't come out easily.  (But overall, I am luckier that some, and for that I am thankful.)
