Update on Husband

ive been lurking some here and there, but got a puppy to help take our minds off cancer and boy has she helped! last Time I posted I believe it was an updated on the new cancer found back in late summer after a scare in scans. Since then Rich completed 6 more cycles of chemo, making it a totle of 20 since last year when First diagnoseD. the last 6 were 5-fu and Avastin. We just returned from mD Anderson and had all the scans. The cancer that was newly found in the fatty tiSue near the rectom has dissolved and shows no evidence at this time. The place on the colon wall shrank from 2.3 x 1.8 cm to 1.8x 0.6cm. So rich is preparing for 6 weeks of oral chemo with radiatioN. Then scans to see where it is. The surgeon at MDA said depending on how things go surgery may not be needed & it may be a let’s just wait and see what happens. After the last trip and scans we felt defeated and I could tell Richard was really struggling. So this was news we needed just at the right time to make him want to fight harder!!! Oh and he had surgery on  the Lower back L4 & 5 since my last post as well! My price charming turned out to be a super Hero as well!! Also, no Mets have showed since the orginal diagnosis when he had the met on the liver! I look back to July 2017 when he was First diagnosed with Stage 4 and can believe he’s completed 20 sessions of chemo and 3 surgeries in about a year. We know this disease can change any moment, but we feel hopeful once again that he just may be NED one day or pretty darn close! Thanks for letting me share!

    That sounds really positive,

That sounds really positive, yay! Good for him for changing his view and toughing it out. Cancer makes brave heroes out of all of us. People will say "oh, I couldn't go through what you have" as if we had a choice. If I was told ahead of time how it would go I'd have said I couldn't do it, either. But I've done it and I'm proud of myself. I hope he is, too. It's empowering to be on the other side of some nasty treatments and have come through like a champ.

I pray you'll continue to get good news!

    Pamcakes are you happy with

Pamcakes are you happy with the treatment at MD Anderson?  Am trying to find a treatment center that focuses on the individual and not just "standard of care" --is it the one in Houston? So happy your husband may be NED!!!!! Praying he is :))

    What a Trooper

What a trooper and thanks for posting the good news that he has received.  Sounds like he has some great help with you being his care giver and has come through a lot of treatment and surgery and still has a winning spirit.  Thanks for the update and tell him take a deep breath because he's doing great.

    Thank you for the support!

Thank you for the support! Richard had another back surgery last week and is doing well. Non cancer related. He will have his mapping for radiation in the morning. Hoping radation will start soon!! We were told the will likely do 7 weeks instead of 6 since the goal is to not have to have surg.? He is ready to go.i am praying he has limited side effects with this as he has been through so much. However, we will make it! I meet a woman yesterday who was randomly telling me about her friend who just celebrated 11 years NED from stage 4 CRC. At the time I had not shared Richard‘s diagnosis with her. It gave me chills and gave some needed encouragement.

    Sounds like things are going

Sounds like things are going well, yay! Hopefully the radiation won't be too bad. For some people it's awful and for others it's not bad at all. I got lucky and had no side effects at all.
