Hi al

Has anyone heard about Vaxil, the Isreali company?

They have been doing trials in immunotherapy for cancer the reports say look promising.

It seemed they got scepticism a few yeas ago for showing positive results too early in the trials, then fairly recently the trials showed very odd results then they say 6 years to become mainstream.

The only info I gathered relates to their commercial advancements in terms of trade. They managed to get FDA's approval which has assured their existence in the market apart from 10 year in exclusivity. Other immunotherapies will have to compete but we the patients will have no benefits from their findings if the drug is put at the hands of share holders. This is another kind of Provenge ridiculously costing about 100,000.00 Euros for one year of treatment that assures one month longer of survival when compared to ADT.

What we have seen resentely is the incorporation of immunology in RT much similar to what we saw when ADT was combine to RT 5 years ago. A series of added treatments done without any prove of drastic benefits in the treatment but a series of added side effects. We are becoming sort of guinea pigs to those marketeers manipulating the medicine trade into their benefit. Advertising agencies are the first to profit from those schemes.
Let's hope that things become serious and that something good comes out from their disputes.

Not saying they are not on

Not saying they are not on the cash trail but https://www.medicaldaily.com/cancer-vaccine-immucin-shows-promising-results-after-clinical-trial-may-work-90-all-316342 showed some promise along the lines of pembrolizumab (I had to look up the spelling Smile)

I guess I am noting that we are at a frustrating stage where there are a lot of potential treatments on the horizon but the research process is slow and (too?) conservative and cautious.

A frustrating stage in an horizon with no end

    Cushions,

I got the same impression back in 2000 when diagnosed with PCa. In my researches (that never stopped till today) I found many studies on newer substances (and means to treat) that worked well in vitro killing the bandit but if injected in humans it would kill the human too. They all got potential as treatments for prostate cancer but none works perfectly. We may just dream on the matter as nobody could ever measure the time it takes to get to that horizon. I hope such to occur within my/our life span. Meanwhile we need to be careful with what we choose because what is advertized could cause more harm than good. Messing with the immune system, the only one we have for general protection, can easily go the other way. In the end I do not believe that we are made to be permanent life living robots. Keep living as natural as it can be and never give-up in the fight.

Vaccines for PCa were already in the drawing boards much before my diagnosis. Those studies gave rise to the Provenge. You would expect this drug to be taken off from the pharmacy shelves by now, but they are there and the strong advertisement continues to gather clientele for something that doesn't correspond to what was told in the beginning. The tabloids are a good vessel for the marketeers to sell the product to investors. Nothing is wrong with that but nothing is good to us. Why should we substantiate on the matter?
I wonder if Vaxil would allow free-of-charge access to the drug for all us, say during five years of their existence, and only then start putting a price on it. The NHS has now become the target for those big pharmas because the system is the only one with big pockets that can afford to pay the ridiculous costs established by the market on medication. In the future we will be losing the access to this health service that works so well in the EU.
