It's PET scan time

DH will have his first PET scan since diagnosis. He's been blessed with 2 clear CT scans So far. Praying for the same next week with the PET scan. He doesn't seem to be worried and says he actually feels peacefully about this test. I on the other hand just want it done and over with so we can celebrate or deal with the results. DH is hoping if this is clear he can stop all chemo since he has completed 14 cycles so far and as far as we know all the cancer has been removed from surgery and the liver ablation. About a week after the PET scan we are heading off to the islands for some R&R! Hubby most certainly has earned all the R&R he wants!!! Any tips or suggestions to help with the PET scan. Of course other than not lettting DH know I am a nervous mess. He is prescribed Ativa as needed, but really doesn't take them. I was thinking of taking one when we go just in case. He is currently have a lot of back issues and I've read inflammation will light up and could be a false positive, is that true? I plan to email the doctor to ask about the Ativan-we are flying to Houston for the PET and will see the MDA doctor the next morning. Any info, advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Stay Strong

I know it is hard but try to stay as strong as possible. I was always more worried about my wife and what she was going through than my own test results. Whenever she wasn't visibly nervous about the results I could relax more. I hope y'all have a great trip and enjoy spending as much time with each other as possible.

    Scans

Ugggg that is so hard to take whether you are the patient or the caregiver (spouse).  As with the PET I've never had them so can't give any advice, but I've heard some things you are not to do before but you need to follow your doctors instructions on that.  Glad that he has (or you) have Ativan to help with the nerves.  That always helped me.  Please know that everyone on this board is in my prayers and I'm glad that he is calm about it.  He is at peace with this scan and that's good.  Keep us informed.

Thank you all for the advice.

Thank you all for the advice. Kim the Ativan is for DH, LOL. I will have my laptop with me and will keep calm with work. The scan is not until Tuesday, but we fly out this evening and will have a little fun over the weekend. Thanks all for the support.

So glad that you are going to have a little fun before all of this.  About the Ativan hope that helps him.  It sure did me going through all these tests.  Enjoy your mini vac.  Wishing the best outcome for all tests.
