Timing of Scheduling Scans - Opinions please.

My Dr. diagnosed me on 9/22/17. My surgery was 10/12/17. My first follow-up visit was 11/22/17. My next visit with him is 3/14/18.  He gave me scripts for CT of Abdomen & Pelvis with IV contrast and Chest with contrast ( 4 tiny nodes were found In my lungs, 2 on each). My pathology was T1a NX crRCC grade 4.   So my question is should I wait until it gets closer to my appointment time or does it really matter?  I should have my pre-authorization in a few days so I could go next week. Once I get the scan I can get my results in a few days. It’ll be bout 5 months from diagnosis date if I do it next week.

    A couple of thoughts

If something is going to show up on a scan it takes time to show. Exposure from a CT is many times that of an x ray. There is no one size fits all or majic schedule for everyone. Discuss your concerns with the doctor.

    The typical process

is to schedule your appt 3-10 days before md visit. Tell them of md appt. when you call.
