    UTI

Yes, it is extremely common to have a UTI after a catheter has been placed.  The female urethra is short, so it's easy to introduce bacteria into it if something is being pushed in there, like a catheter.  You may already have an infection and that may be why you're so uncomfortable.  My mother had an indwelling catheter for a couple of years and the doctor said there was no doubt that she would have a chronic infection from it.  Every time I have a catheter for surgery, I automatically seem to get a UTI.

That makes a lot of sense!

That makes a lot of sense!  Ive had so many bladder infections I lost count.  This is the first time I've been sent home with a catheter. Before they removed my bladder mass they gave me IV antibiotics and they sent me home with a prescription for Cipro. I hope that will ward off any bugs that are lurking around!!  Now at T minus 12 hours until this dreadful thing comes out!!!
